LONG POST ALERT 🚨🚨🚨
March 2005 was a turning point for me. I discovered my passion for this sport and opened my first gym, driven by my love for competing and coaching. Despite never excelling in the arena, I thrived as a coach. With no formal education or trade, training and traveling became my life.
A setback in 2007 forced me to close the gym, but I reopened it in 2009 after being laid off from work. We grew rapidly, and needed a larger facility so I partnered with a friend to build something amazing.
In 2014, after some disagreements in the gym, I, along with one of my students, took my first trip to Thailand, and upon returning, Driven gym was born. Immediately we took off. We had to move two times because we needed more space. But every time we seemed to get ahead, we would fall behind and something would happen.
After 12 years of pouring my heart and soul into the gym, working tirelessly to chase my dreams, while at the same time working a full-time job overnight to provide for my family, I reached a breaking point. I cried out to God.
Face down on the mats I said a prayer.
“ I know with You I can do anything, but if it’s not what you have for me, please strip it from my life”
After that, things rapidly went downhill more gyms opened up in the area, students left, there’s a lot of other things that happened in between .
I’ll just leave it at this, I prayed, and God is faithful and answered.
I know for certain that no matter what anyone did, if God wanted this for me, there’s nothing that could stop it.
With tears in my eyes, I announce the closing of Driven gym. I hate giving up but at the same time I’m excited to see what God has for me. I’m also excited to give my wife and daughter all of me that they deserve.
This week there will be no classes and I will be canceling everyone’s memberships. Feel free to reach out to
me with any questions. 908-425-1458.
I’ll be continuing to work with certain Fighters and I’ll pop up here and there teaching classes and seminars.
I gave it my all.
