Massachusetts Rifle Association Junior Pistol Team Wins Gold and Silver at 2026 National Championships

Special to The Advocate

The Massachusetts Junior Pistol Team, representing the Massachusetts Rifle Association (MRA), earned top national honors at the 2026 Progressive-Position Air Pistol (PPP) Junior National Championship, which was held from July 31–August 2 at Marksmanship USA in Columbia, Missouri. Under the leadership of Malden’s Coach Louis Matnog, the four athlete squad captured the Gold Medal in the Mixed Team Positions event, demonstrating exceptional consistency and competitive strength. The team also secured a Silver Medal in the individual Standing Supported Position event, marking an impressive showing across multiple disciplines.
Team members Aryav Ranjan, Arron Lee, Maya Lumpau and Emma Choi delivered standout performances throughout the competition, each contributing to the team’s success and national podium finishes. “The athletes worked extremely hard all season, and their results at the national level speak to their commitment, discipline, and teamwork,” said Coach Matnog. “We’re proud to bring these medals home to Massachusetts.”
The MRA congratulates the athletes and extends appreciation to the families, volunteers and supporters who made the team’s participation possible.
