Here is the link for registration: https://forms.gle/mmfAPWxhqzessSZj9
Please complete the registration and bring your $15 registration fee to the first practice. All new swimmers will be required to swim a lap from the shallow end to the deep end of the pool without assistance during the first practice.
Practice will be Monday, Tuesday & Thursday from 6:30-7:30 PM beginning on May 4th- July 31. Meets usually begin in June and more information will be provided once it is available.
Here are some answers to our most commonly asked questions:
How old does my child need to be?
Our blue Marlins program is has a minimum age of five years old. Your child must be an independent swimmer. Children must swim the length of the pool unassisted.
Do you teach kids to swim?
No, we do not teach your child to swim. Here are some points to consider:
Does he/she require assistance in the water (pfd, floaties, etc) or have a fear of the water? If so, we would recommend he/she take swim lessons before joining.
What is practice like?
For beginners, they will immediately begin learning technique for the 4 swim strokes. (Breast stroke, back stoke, free, and fly). They will be swimming the length of the pool practicing each stroke as they’re introduced during practices. If you feel, that your child is ready, then you may go ahead and register your child for the season. It’s not like a fun day by the pool and your child needs to be prepared to follow directions and work hard. Practices will be structured.
How much are the fees?
Fees are $40 per month. There is also a registration fee of $15. Swimmers who choose to compete will be required to pay a one time competition fee (usually $10-15) when meets start. Please ask about sibling discounts if you have multiple swimmers.
Does my child have to sign up on the the first day?
No. If your child is participating in other activities, feel free to join Blue Marlins later in the season. The sooner you join, the better, but we understand conflicting schedules. We will order suits early in the season, If you register late it will be your responsibility to order your suit.
Does my child have to compete?
We would love for every child to compete, but understand that some choose not to and that is fine. They do not have to make that decision immediately. When competitions begin we will collect fees.
How often does my child need to attend practice? We ask that each child attend at least 2 practices per week, but prefer that they attend as many as possible.
What does my child need to wear?
Modest bathing suits are required for practice. One piece suits for girls, jammers or trunks for boys. (Inexpensive suits do not hold up well for daily swim practice so be prepared to purchase a few. Speedo, Arena, and other competition suits are not required, but they do hold up better for daily use.) Team competition suits will be purchased for swimmers who compete to wear to meets.
What equipment does my child need?
For practice we recommend:
Goggles (not a facemask) (extras are ALWAYS a good idea)
Swim Cap (preferred, not required)
Flippers (recommended, not required)
Kickboard (recommended, not required)
When and where are meets?
We will post a schedule for meets as soon as it is available. Typically they begin toward the end of June and last through July. Meets for Blue Marlins are generally in Bristol (Most meets will occur here), Kingsport, Lebanon
This registration form must be completed for EVERY swimmer. Practice will be Monday, Tuesday & Thursday 6:30-7:30 PM beginning on May 4thh- July 31. Meets usually begin in June and more information will be provided once it is available.
