e have been asked to post the following information about parking at the American Legion during the summer. WE hope this will create a summer of cooperation in using the Legions parking lot when they are not using it. Thanks for your help.
Dear Community Members and Beach Visitors,
The Alfred W. Maxwell Jr. American Legion Post in Winthrop is proud to be part of a community that
values cooperation, respect, and shared access to our town’s resources. As part of our commitment, we
are pleased to make the post’s paved parking lot available to beachgoers during certain times, in support
of everyone’s enjoyment of the area.
At the same time, we ask for your understanding and cooperation in observing the following parking
guidelines. This will ensure that our Post members and guests have access to our facility when needed.
Beach visitors are welcome to use the paved parking lot daily with the following exceptions:
Monday through Saturday: Parking is reserved for American Legion members and their guests
from 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM
Sunday: Parking is reserved from noon to 8:00 PM
Special Events: Parking is not available to the public during Legion special events,
regardless of the day or time. If a special event has been planned, signage will be posted in the
parking lot.
For additional convenience, beach parking is also available without restriction on the lawn located
between our paved lot and Green Street. We encourage visitors to make use of this space as well.
We aim to be good stewards of our property and to support the broader community, but this shared
arrangement depends on mutual respect. We ask all who use the lot to:
Follow posted signage and time restrictions
Park responsibly and safely
Help keep the area clean and free of litter
Be considerate of Legion members, guests, and activities
Do not use any of the property for parking boat trailers
Your cooperation helps us continue offering this shared use arrangement and ensures a positive
experience for everyone.
Thank you for your understanding and for helping us maintain a spirit of community in Winthrop.
Sincerely,
American Legion Executive Committee
