Balance is an illusion.
So many people have this misconception that there's a way to achieve "life balance" and if they could just get to that point, then they'd be happy...

Well, the thing is, perfect balance is unattainable.
It's just not possible.
And by thinking that it is, you're setting yourself up for a huge disappointment.

Alignment, on the other hand, is a real thing.
And it's not about being perfectly balanced.
It's about being 100% YOU.
Living your purpose.
Being OKAY with where you're at while simultaneously striving to be better each day.

It's about self awareness and acceptance.
It's about becoming MORE YOU and being okay with the fact that not everyone is going to like you.

Balance = an illusion.
Alignment = where the magic happens.

If not, here's a taste of what you're missing on Wednesdays with our mid-week motivation / inspiration posts!

With officially in full swing, you will notice that there is an abundance of fresh fruits in the produce aisles of your favorite grocery store! 🍎

As the nights get colder, and the days become shorter it’s a great time to try a new . 😉 From chili to Apple crisp, the endless list of fall recipes is definitely something you won’t want to miss.

This new brings so many delicious foods with it. On your next trip to the store here is just a small list of in season food to help you fill your basket...

✨Cranberries - pair well with meat & poultry. May help prevent you from experiencing urinary tract infections.

✨Parsnips - Carrot’s tasty cousin is known for being full of fiber & containing more than 10% of your daily required vitamin c & folate.

✨Okra - typically fried, usually found in stews & gumbos. These look like little pods and are full of fiber, vitamin k & c.

✨Pears - Although we can buy these year round, you will find that they are especially tasty as they enter their peak season. Grilled, poached, raw, or tucked into a panini of your choice - this is a delicious fruit that offers a world of possibilities.

✨Spaghetti Squash - This is a great alternative to grain-based pasta! 🍝

✨Sweet potatoes - These are healthier than white potatoes and are an excellent source of both potassium & vitamin c. 🍠

✨Beets - act as an alternative to red food dye! Plus, they can help to support a healthy blood pressure. My favorite way to enjoy a beet is pickled, but they can be enjoyed roasted or steamed, too!

✨Finally...PUMPKIN! 🎃
Definitely my favorite part of the new season! I love baking with pumpkin & prepping pumpkin seeds! And of course, I love carving them with my kiddos as Halloween approaches! Pumpkins are full of fiber and are excellent for both your skin & eyes 👀

⭐Monday Move of the Week ⭐

Tree Pose 🌲

One of my favorites! Oh... Who am I kidding?! They're all my favorites 😂

But I love this one for two big reasons...

1⃣ The balance
2⃣ The hip opening

If you're like me (and most people, really!) you likely don't practice balance regularly... And you probably have tightness in the hips! Which is why this move is amazing (and why PiYo in general is amazing!)

To properly execute tree pose..
🔹Find your balance on one leg while bringing one foot to the inside of your shin or thigh (never on your knee)
🔹Grip the floor with your foot and engage the glutes of the supporting leg for a strong base of support
🔹Open up through the hip of the lifted foot by engaging the glutes and taking your bent knee out to the side as much as possible
🔹Your hands can come to prayer at heart center or you can grow your tree by extending your arms up above your head
🔹Be sure to hold your core in tight and set your gaze on a fixed point in order to maintain balance

By improving your balance, you reduce likelihood of injury in every day life. .

By increasing flexibility of the hips, you can reduce lower back pain which affects 80% of the American population!
Give this move a try!
It's a good one, for sure!

As you may know, next week kicks off a whole new semester of kickboxing & PiYo at Maxcy! 🧘🏽‍♀️🥊

If you are a local and looking to join in on some group fitness, these classes are a great way to start!

Kickboxing is a great start for individuals of all fitness levels. You will get exactly what you put into this class. Not only will you learn proper form for different styles of kicks, and punches; you will also begin to condition your body as we work on total body conditioning in every class. 💪🏼

🥊 Coordination.

These are just a few of the benefits that may be achieved through a kickboxing class!

If you are a little more familiar with the world of fitness, you may be interested in joining us for a semester of PiYo.

PiYo is a low-impact, high-intensity workout. As you know, this class is also available in virtual form, so even if your schedule doesn’t allow you to meet us at Maxcy, you can still add PiYo to your week! This is a full body exercise like no other, and it is definitely my favorite! ☺️

Hey everyone, I hope your weekend was great! I know we all had a great day yesterday at our monthly Aligned Fit PiYo get together! 🎉 .
Each month we plan a social meeting so that the Virtual group can get to know each other. We have done a cooking class, a meet up for coffee, a hike, and now we can add meet up at my house for some Sunshine & PiYo to our list of awesome gatherings 💜
It almost wasn’t sunny, but the rain 🌧 held off and left us with some sun and a very nice breeze! What a great way to wrap up the month of July! 💜
I’m so happy to call these ladies my . Thank you all for joining us, and we are so excited to see you next month!

Awww yeah! August is going to be 🔥🔥🔥in the Aligned Fit communities!

Aligned Fit PiYo can expect to see some of their favorite sections from the last few months for a little end of summer smash up round!

Becoming "fit" is a process that requires so much more than exercising and "cleaning up your diet."

Honestly, if that's all it took, every single person who's ever done a challenge group with me would be at their desired fitness level and crushing it every day.

But sadly, that's not the case.

Our beliefs aren't formed by our lives, but actually our lives are formed from our beliefs.

This includes our level of fitness.

What types of beliefs does a person have to have about themselves in order to make their health a priority?
🔹I'm worth it
🔹I'm capable of achieving my goals
🔹The "hard" fitting it into my busy schedule, the "hard" workouts, the "hard" early mornings, the "hard" food prep and multiple trips to the grocery store are easier than looking in the mirror and not liking what I see.

What types of beliefs and thoughts does a person have to be thinking to NOT make their health a priority?
🚫I'm not worth it
🚫I'm not meant to have a 6 pack
🚫I'm just "big b***d"
🚫I'd rather sleep in
🚫Food prep is too much work
🚫I don't like cooking
🚫I just don't like vegetables
🚫Eating healthy is boring
🚫Lifting weights makes girls bulky
🚫It's all too hard
🚫I can't......

If you've tried all the workouts and have only seen minimal results or have given up before you even gave yourself a chance, the problem isn't the workouts. It's not the meal plan.

It's what's going on between your ears that's the problem. 🧠

So what does the "Aligned" fit life look like?

Becoming aligned CAN start with exercise, but it doesn't always.

You HAVE to shift your thoughts in order to shift your life and see the results you desire.

In your physical health.
In your relationships.
In your finances.
In your spirituality.
In your occupation.
In your mental health.

It's all connected.

In the Aligned Fit Life, we work on awareness.
We look at where we're at in each area, and set goals to improve.

Not everything at once.
There is no such thing as perfect balance.

But with awareness, accountability and support, we can make incremental improvements each day to start to become the person we are meant to be.

If you don't like where you're at, CHANGE IT.
YOU ARE NOT A🌲 TREE 🌲.

In August, we're going to do a mindset makeover. Summer may have you feeling "off track" but we're going to pull ourselves back together before the holidays creep up on us!

I, for one, am excited to continue aligning my thoughts and raising my vibration to become an energetic match for all my life's desires.

☠Have you ever been caught in the “not enough” trap? By that I mean, it can feel like your job/family/car/body (or you name it) somehow isn’t enough or doesn’t measure up?

👸👑It’s so easy to feel that way nowadays, especially with social media showing us images of the supposedly fabulous lives being lived by everyone else.

🐶🍖It reminds me of a fable I heard years ago, about a dog that found a piece of meat while he was out exploring. (Yes, I love dog stories!)

🤤This dog was overjoyed to find the treat, so he took it home to enjoy it in peace. In order to get home, he had to cross over a branch above a running stream.

🌊When he was halfway across the stream, he looked down and saw his shadow – except instead of recognizing it as his reflection, he thought it was another dog carrying a piece of meat.

And he wanted that other dog’s meat, very much. So he snapped at it to steal it away … and you know what happened next, right? The meat he’d been carrying fell into the stream and was quickly swept away. 😱😱😱

🙈🙉🙊How often is it that we don’t appreciate what we have, and waste precious resources chasing illusions and shadows?

💗 Remember: not everything we see is as it appears, so don’t trade away a single moment of today’s happiness.
