✨️Be the Light Yoga is excited to announce the first round of incredible women who have completed their 200HR Yoga Teacher Training at Be the Light Yoga under  Michelle Fleming founder of Evolution Trainings & Orthopedic Yoga Transformational Vinyasa.  After an intensive week with Michelle, and six months with Kathleen they are ready to share their love of yoga from their authentic selves with all of you.  The Community classes are free and you can register on mindbody!  Bring a friend and come support these amazing women.

Her all-levels classes offer a welcoming space for students to tune into their bodies and minds, honor what feels right in the moment, and move with curiosity and self-compassion. She hopes each student leaves feeling more grounded, connected, and supported—both on and off the mat.

Wednesday June 24th 
630pm Therapeutic Yoga for Tech Neck

Expect slow, floor-based classes with supportive postures, breathwork, and myofascial release to help you unwind tightness, release tension, and feel more at ease.

Thursday June 25th 
5:15pm All Levels Vinyasa Flow

A strong, energizing class with loud music, movement through the beat, and flows that help you fully drop in and let go for a little while. I naturally gravitate toward power-style classes, but I also believe one of the best things about yoga is that you can always dial it up or down depending on what you need that day. Yoga has a way of meeting you exactly where you are. My hope is that my classes feel welcoming and empowering and leave you feeling more connected to yourself because at the end of the day, it is your practice and your own journey.

✨️✨️Kathleen owner of Be the Light Yoga journey from first class to studio owner✨️✨️

Q - When did you take your first yoga class, and what inspired you to start practicing?

Kathleen – I took my first yoga class in November of 2014. At the time, I was a runner and had completed two Boston Marathons. When I found yoga, I never ran again. During my runs, I never noticed my breath, never listened to my body, and was in my head the entire time. Though I felt great and it was a quick fix, it did not last long. But when I practiced yoga, I noticed my breath for the first time, noticed how I felt in my body, and listened. Mindfulness brought me to the present moment, and it stayed with me off the mat.

Q - Who did you train with during your teacher training, and what technique did your teacher share that you still incorporate into your classes?

K - I was so lucky and proud to train with Michelle Fleming, whose knowledge of yoga, proper alignment, and anatomy is like no other teacher training program. I have learned so much and continue to train with her. I would have to say that finding proper alignment in your body and posture is what I incorporate into every class, and . I have learned that proper alignment in yoga is everything; when you practice proper alignment in the body physically, your emotional and mental body will follow. You breathe well ♥️

Q- What inspired you to open Be the Light Yoga, and what vision did you have for the studio?

K - Opening a yoga studio takes everything you learn on your mat and in your practice and applies it to creating the space, what you want to bring into your space, and what kind of community you want to build. Coming out of my comfort zone and creating a space from my heart, and then sharing that vision with my community, has been a great experience. What most inspired me was the love in my heart for the practice, showing my children that you can make dreams come true at any time in your life when you believe in yourself.

Q- What did you do before running marathon's and owning a yoga studio?

K- I had the privilege of being a stay at home mom and raised my 4 awesome kids. This was the best and hardest job ever.

💫💫✨️Be the Light Yoga EmpowerHer Wellness Camp for middle school girls going into 6th Grade -8th grade will be held June 22nd-June 26th.

Monday June 22nd 3-5pm
Tuesday June 23rd-Friday 26th 9am-2pm

EmpowerHer Wellness Camp stems from my own experiences in middle school. I knew when I opened a yoga studio that I would provide a camp for middle school girls to have an opportunity to learn wellness tools to cope with stress and anxiety, as well as to have a social worker on-site to help them navigate topics and discussions that are important to them. Our mission is to empower middle school girls by providing a safe and supportive environment where they can explore their potential, build self-esteem, and foster meaningful connections. Through engaging activities in wellness such as yoga, breathwork, Pilates, art therapy, and much more, we aim to promote physical and mental well-being while encouraging personal growth and resilience. We believe that every girl deserves access to these resources, and because of a collaboration with CASA and a generous donation from Winthrop Charities, we are able to offer this camp free of charge to ensure inclusivity and accessibility for all.

✨️Sometimes, what we resist is what we need✨️. Notice the poses you love, the ones you feel comfortable doing all day! Which ones do you resist? Which ones bring up feelings of discomfort? Can we go there and breathe? Can we go there and accept ourselves, being okay with not being perfect?

Self-acceptance, especially in our moments of discomfort, is the greatest gift we can give ourselves. When we learn to embrace where we are, we open our hearts to accepting others as well.
