🥋 Ever wondered about the difference between Kukkiwon and World Taekwondo (WT)? 🤔 Here's a quick breakdown to help you understand their distinct roles in the global Taekwondo community!

Kukkiwon: The Heart of Taekwondo Tradition & Certification

- Role: Educational & Dan Certification Center (Taekwondo Headquarters)
- Focus: Awards black belts & Dan ranks, instructor qualifications, Poomsae education, and preserving the martial arts tradition & spirit.
- Main Responsibilities: Setting standards for black belts, instructor licenses, and overall Taekwondo education.
- Founded: 1972

World Taekwondo (WT): The Global Sport & Competition Authority

- Role: Sport & Competition Organization
- Focus: Conducts tournaments, regulates Olympic rules, organizes sparring & international events, and develops athletic performance for competition.
- Main Responsibilities: Overseeing Taekwondo as an Olympic sport, managing tournaments, and establishing competition rules.
- Founded: 1973

Both organizations are crucial to the world of Taekwondo, but they serve different, complementary purposes! Kukkiwon preserves the art and certifies practitioners, while WT promotes Taekwondo as a dynamic global sport.

Those of you planning to test in June, we are having extra practice sessions for self defense and option help. These will be during the Friday Adult Sparring class. The dates are as follows:
Today, April 27
Friday May 4
Friday May 11
Saturday May 12 (black belt training)

Please plan to attend one or more to prepare for testing.

Get your Kukkiwon Cup application today and receive the special early bird rate!! All King Tiger Greenville students please plan to fill out a physical application, rather than online. Also, don't forget to attend sparring and competition poomsae class to get some extra practice!
