It may be the Dog Days of Summer, but winter is never far from our minds at Wintergreen... after all, it’s right there in our name. ❄️ Behind the scenes, our Mountain Operations team is already hard at work preparing for another incredible ski season.

This morning, 14 brand-new TechnoAlpin TT10 high-output fan guns arrived at the resort, marking a major milestone in our snowmaking upgrade project on Eagles Swoop. Our team has been working hard to remove the previous snow guns, prepare each installation site, and get everything ready for the next generation of snowmaking technology.

These upgrades are the latest step in strengthening Wintergreen’s SNOWPOWER — our state-of-the-art snowmaking system designed to deliver consistent, high-quality snow across the mountain.

The project will help us:
❄️ Open terrain faster during early season
❄️ Deliver improved snow quality with more consistent coverage
❄️ Increase snowmaking efficiency while using less energy
❄️ Modernize our snowmaking communication and control systems for improved monitoring and responsiveness
❄️ Redeploy existing equipment to enhance snowmaking coverage across additional trails

The project will also expand tree line-to-tree line snowmaking coverage on Eagles Swoop, helping create stronger early-season conditions, improved consistency, and a better experience for skiers and snowboarders throughout the season.

While temperatures may have been soaring recently, we're already looking ahead to those first cold nights when these new fan guns will help transform Eagles Swoop into a winter wonderland for skiers and snowboarders to enjoy all season long.

Winter may seem far away, but every great ski season starts with the work happening right now.

🌅 Saturday night just got even better.

Join us this Saturday, July 11, for Chairlift Sunset Sessions and be among the first to experience our brand new event tent at Checkerberry Cabin. Ride the chairlift down through the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains as the sun begins to set, then settle in for an evening of live music, mountain views, campfires, and good company.

🎶 This month's entertainment features Main Street Station Band RVA, bringing their high energy mix of country, classic rock, soul, and pop to the mountain.

Chairlift rides begin at 6:30 PM
🎵 Live music starts at 7:00 PM

Bring a lawn chair or blanket and make yourself at home. S'more kits, food, and drinks will be available for purchase throughout the evening.

There's no better way to spend a summer Saturday than watching the sunset from the mountains. We'll see you there!

8pm Update: 🎆 The storms have passed and we’re in the clear — fireworks are ON for tonight!

Don’t rush out after the show. Stick around for live music and keep the celebration going while traffic eases. Please note an adjusted traffic pattern will be in effect following the fireworks. Thanks for celebrating with us!

Good news! The storm just missed us, and Blue Ridge Terrace is back open serving cold drinks, great food, and live music.

The air is a little cooler, making it the perfect evening to kick back on the mountain.

Be sure to join us under the Dunlop Pavilion tent at 6:30 for an American salute with orchestra by Wintergreen Music.

🎆 We can't wait to celebrate America's 250th with you tomorrow! Before you head up the mountain, here are a few tips to help make your visit as smooth as possible.

🚗 Please review the traffic map below before you arrive. After the fireworks, a temporary one way traffic pattern will be in effect to help everyone exit the mountain safely and efficiently. Please follow all temporary signage, police officers, and traffic attendants throughout the evening.

Traffic Flow
🟨 Staying on the mountain? Stay in the right lane and continue through the Mountain Inn.
🟦 Leaving the mountain? Move into the left lane in front of the Mountain Inn.
🔄 If you miss your lane, don't worry. Continue through the traffic circle and you'll have another opportunity.

🎶 Skip the traffic! Instead of heading straight to your vehicle, stick around for 30 to 45 minutes after the fireworks and enjoy live music while traffic clears. It's the perfect way to end an incredible day.

🚶 Please watch for pedestrians crossing roadways and make any necessary lane changes early as directed by signage.

🌤️ While much of the region will be hot and humid, temperatures at Wintergreen are often up to 10° cooler than in the valley. Dress comfortably, stay hydrated, wear sunscreen, and take breaks throughout the day so you can enjoy everything the celebration has to offer.

America’s 250th birthday celebration is almost here.
