We are actively recruiting new players. No experience necessary! The Orlando U19 Boys' Rugby Football Club is an under-19 high school rugby team that plays and practices in Orlando. Our team was established in 2011, by students from local Orange County high schools, but our team now also includes players from Seminole and Osceola Counties. We were the 2015 and 2016 Florida State Champions, and exp
anded to form a U19 Girls' team in 2017. The Griffins compete in three seasons, offering year-round rugby. The spring season sees competition towards the Florida Rugby Union High School Championship, Southern Conference Championship, and USA Rugby National Championship. Our fall season is dedicated to a more regional competition, for a Florida Cup champion, during which, we also look to play the top teams in the southeast United States. During the summer, we play sevens rugby, a faster-paced version of the game. We participate in several summer (1-day) tournaments. The purpose of the Club is to give young men and women under the age of 19 and in high school an outlet that current high school interscholastic sports do not offer, and to provide a positive environment that is an alternative to gangs and other illegal activities. Rugby is a game that teaches respect and discipline while promoting fitness. The Orlando U19 Boys' and Girls' Rugby Clubs operate in association with the Orlando Rugby Football Club (ORFC), their parent club, and the Orlando Rugby Foundation (a 5013c nonprofit) in growing the sport across Central Florida. We rely on a close relationship with ORFC's past and present players for development and growth. Once players have matriculated from the U19 program, our relationship with ORFC allows the players to continue their participation in rugby in the Orlando area.
