Today, Aug. 7th, is Purple Heart Day, we honor all U.S. Veterans who were wounded or gave their lives in combat. Established by General George Washington on Aug. 7, 1782, as the Badge of Military Merit, it remains the oldest military decoration still awarded. We acknowledge the brave servicemembers who have sacrificed so much for our nation. The Purple Heart is a solemn reminder of the price paid for freedom and we are forever grateful for your sacrifices. Cypresswood Golf & CC is proud to be a Purple Heart entity and on the Cypresswood Golf & Country Club will illuminate their flags in the community and at the club tonight in purple to honor this day.

Cypresswood Golf & Country Club is honored to be a Purple Heart entity and on the Purple Heart Trail.
The purpose of the Purple Heart Trail is to create a symbolic and honorary system of roads, highways, bridges, and other monuments that give tribute to the men and women who have been awarded the Purple Heart medal.

The Purple Heart Trail accomplishes this honorary goal by creating a visual reminder to local citizens that others have paid a high price for their freedom to travel and live in a free society. Signs placed at various locations annotate those roads and highways where legislation has been passed to designate parts of the national road system as The Purple Heart Trail.
