When the temp goes up to the mid-80s

With temps hitting about 88 degrees on race day, you are in the range where external heat will rob your body of heartbeats. This is especially true for athletes coming from cooler climates.

We have a fun-filled weekend of fueling and hydrating athletes at the Belews Lake Triathlon on Saturday and The RunnerDude 10 Mile and 10 Kilometer Challenge on Sunday.

Who had cereal for breakfast (or lunch) for ?

For most of us, when we say cereal, we think back to the sugary goodness of our youth. As most of us are a bit older now, a bowl full of sugar probably isn't the best option for breakfast. We have a couple of guidelines when we talk about making cereal a mainstay in your nutrition plan:
1) Sugar content is less than 10g per serving
2) Fiber and protein content is each at least 5 g per serving.

You can also add the fiber and protein content together and if it is more than the sugar, you are good to go.

Does that mean that the sugary goodness doesn't have a place at the table? Absolutely not! Cereal can be a delicious way to replenish glycogen stores after tough or long workouts. Just keep in mind that there are other ingredients in cereal besides sugar you may wish to avoid.

Our favorite is Fruity Pebbles with whole milk or Cinnamon Toast Crunch topped with NBS Recovery+.
