Walkertown NC – The Forsyth County Sheriff's Office (FCSO) is investigating an early-morning
homicide.

At approximately 5:55 a.m. on Saturday, May 2, 2026, FCSO deputies were dispatched to a residence in the 4700 block of New Walkertown Road to assist agency EMS. Upon arrival, they
discovered one person and a canine suffering from gunshot wounds. The 16-year-old juvenile and his pet canine had been shot and both succumbed to their injuries and were pronounced deceased at the scene. FCSO Investigative Services Division has assumed the investigation of this homicide. It is an open and ongoing investigation.

“There are times in my life when I have questioned the moral compass of society and this is truly another one of those times. When a 16-year-old child and his pet can be gunned down in the quiet of the morning hours, it causes me to question our sense of morality and brings true anguish. Make no mistake about it, there is a monster among us, and the FCSO will use all available resources to ensure this monster is captured.”

- Sheriff Bobby F. Kimbrough, Jr.

“This is just another sad example of senseless juvenile violence that has recently concerned myself and local law enforcement.”

– District Attorney Jim O’Neill.

Anyone who may have information in this case should contact the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office directly at 336-727-2112; anonymously text information, photos, and video via Text-A-Tip at 336-920-8477; or anonymously call Crimestoppers at 336-727-2800 for English or 336-728-3904 for Spanish. If you hear gunfire or see flares in parts of southeastern North Carolina later this month, don’t be alarmed. It could be part of the Army’s Special Forces “Robin Sage” training exercise happening in Bladen, Brunswick and Columbus counties. Have you ever seen the training before?

On January 1, 2026, the ATF eForms system experienced widespread instability and intermittent crashes after receiving approximately 150,000 applications in a single day. This volume was roughly 60 times higher than the typical daily average of 2,500 submissions.
Key Details of the Incident
Cause of Surge: The influx followed the implementation of the "One Big Beautiful Bill," signed in July 2025, which reduced the excise tax for suppressors, short-barreled rifles (SBRs), and short-barreled shotguns (SBSs) from $200 to $0 effective January 1, 2026.
System Impact: Users reported login failures, timed-out sessions, and error messages during the PIN entry phase of submission. The surge affected Federal Fi****ms Licensees (FFLs) and individual applicants nationwide.
Pre-Implementation Measures: The ATF had placed eForms on an administrative "blackout" from December 26, 2025, to January 1, 2026, to update internal workflows and integrate the new $0 tax-paid forms.
Current Status: While the system remains operational, it continues to experience intermittent glitches. The ATF has acknowledged the urgency and is working with the National Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF) to restore full stability.
Recommendations for Applicants
Persistent Submissions: If you encounter errors during the PIN phase, the ATF advises making several attempts as some forms are still successfully processing despite the volume.
Expect Delays: Although some early applicants reported approvals in as little as 24 to 48 hours, the massive backlog is expected to significantly increase overall wait times in early 2026.
Monitor Status: Use the ATF eForms portal to check the status of existing submissions. Be aware that any "Draft" forms from before the December 26 blackout were deleted to accommodate the new system requirements.

🚨HER BOYFRIEND SUED P. DIDDY, SHE VANISHED, HE OFFERED A REWARD, BUT THEN DIED FROM AN OVERDOSE… AND SHE'S STILL MISSING🚨

📍Winston-Salem, North Carolina | April 6, 2004
THE DISAPPEARANCE OF SAMATHA “SUNSHINE” BAREMORE

✨ Samatha Baremore, known by her stage name “Sunshine,” was just 24 years old—a radiant young mother with a bright smile, a daughter named Alexis, and dreams far bigger than her circumstances. She danced at Sugar Bares VIP Club on Martin Luther King Drive in Winston-Salem and lived off Silas Creek Parkway with her longtime boyfriend, Cedrick Lemon. Their relationship began in 1999 when she was dancing at James Walker’s Place and Cedrick worked as a bouncer.

💔 By 2004, Samatha was ready to leave Cedrick behind. Their relationship had grown turbulent, and she was determined to build a better life for herself and her daughter.

🚕 In the early morning hours of April 6, 2004, Samatha left work at Sugar Bares in a Willard Cab Company taxi, headed home. That was the last time anyone ever saw her.

👀 The club owner, Bob Evans, confirmed seeing “Sunshine” leave in the cab—days before her family even realized she was missing.

🕵️‍♀️ Cedrick told police she came home that morning but soon left again, saying she was going to buy a newspaper and look for a new place to live. She never returned.

💼 When her sister Erricka entered the apartment, she found Samatha’s belongings packed up—as if she had been preparing to leave. Her black dance bag, something she always carried, was left behind.

🚨 Knowing Samatha would never abandon her child, her family filed a missing person report on April 10, 2004.

🧩 Then came the strange twists. In 1995, Cedrick Lemon said he was assaulted by bodyguards working for Sean “Diddy” Combs after a concert at Joel Coliseum. He later filed a lawsuit against the music mogul—and in 2006, two years after Samatha vanished, the case was settled for an undisclosed amount.

💰 Cedrick offered a $10,000 reward for information about Samatha’s disappearance. But in 2018, he died of a drug overdose, taking with him whatever truth he may have known.

💔 Two decades later, Samatha “Sunshine” Baremore is still missing. No arrests. No remains. No closure. Just silence and heartbreak.

❓What really happened to Samatha that April night?
❓Did she ever make it home—or did someone stop her along the way?
❓Who holds the truth that could finally bring Sunshine home?

📞 If you have any information, please contact the Winston-Salem Police Department at 336-773-7700.

🕯️ It’s been 20 years. Sunshine is still missing. Her daughter is still waiting. Her family is still aching. It’s time to speak. Time for answers. Time for justice.

What happens January 1, 2026.

The $200 tax requirement under the National Fi****ms Act (NFA) is being removed by a bill signed into law in July 2025. Other regulations, like the required background check and paperwork, will remain in effect.

Tax removal: The $200 federal tax stamp will no longer be required for suppressors, short-barreled rifles (SBRs), short-barreled shotguns (SBSs), and "any other weapons" (AOWs).

Cost savings: This removes the financial barrier associated with the NFA tax for these items.

Application is still needed: You will still need to submit the required paperwork, such as the ATF Form 4, and pass a background check to purchase these items.

The new ATF Form 4 is out for public comment and now includes the updated $0 tax on suppressors — a huge win for the 2A community! Law-abiding gun owners deserve full access to hearing protection, and this change brings us one step closer.

Additional changes to the form include:
- Removing CLEO notification requirement and copy
- Simplified photo and ID requirements
- Electronic filing options through eForms and Pay.gov

We’ll keep fighting to roll back what’s left of the NFA, but today, we celebrate progress.

Public comments will be open until December 1, 2025. Share your feedback at the link below 👇
