Been getting a lot of questions on Willowcats. So here’s the scoop… or lack there of 😂 and thus the image I’m posting, they’ve given me the bird 😂
I’ve put on over 1500 miles and countless hours trying to net and have come up short of anything worth bringing to market, I won’t give up on them but for now, I have a great alternate and something that I am much more familiar fishing with….
Bullheads.
I am waiting back on a call to bring in some very freshly caught mini bullies. 2-5” range.
My personal experience with these nets me quality walleye 14-29” range… Not to mention channels and flatheads from time to time as well. They’re hardier, less finicky with oxygen and water conditions and last longer in my opinion.
The stigma around them imo, stems from being bite size for walleyes and being a nest raider of sorts, triggers a meeting response from walleyes. That’s my theory anyways! Their action and reaction to being hooked really doesn’t seem to be much different from bullheads either. But I have much more luck after being hooked with keeping bullies alive too.
With that said. The bench warmer is coming in the game. My plan is to house around 20-30 dozen to start. Pricing is $18/dozen $10 for a 6 pack for guys that just want to try them. When they come in I will make an announcement as well as sending messages to those who already requested them when they come in.
