So often we hear -

“It’s so expensive- fuel prices are inflated…”

“I would be missing…”

“It’s too HOT outside…”

“That’s a lot of work…”

“That’s so far…”

“I’d miss my family-…”

“It’s too stressful to miss that much work…”

“Why?!”

“What about school…”

“ACROSS THE COUNTRY!?”

“I don’t get it…”

———

Allow us to explain…

We make hard choices. We hold stocks in fuel, tires,Walmart & HEB. Our sponsors and the committees we work for safeguard our success. We eat clean & sweat hard. WE BLEED FOR IT. Literally.

It is days of getting ready- and SO much work. Miles and miles of travel. Sometimes weeks on the road. We phone home in tears often. We work for the best company’s- and individuals in the world, and sometimes work/school go with us.

YEP. Coast to Coast. 🏔️ 🌊

You don’t have to get it- chances are you probably never will.

It is the producers, the committees, the many towns across the country we call “home”. The tiny hands and tiny smiles. The kids we held in diapers who come after the autographs year after year. The sparkle we leave in the communities we visit— the hats off from the rough stock guys after a hard run. Record breaking times. It’s every mile- every moment- every late night- every blowout- every mountain we climb. The moments they say “that ain’t ‘drill team’!!!”

If you could impact the hearts and minds of those at the top of your industry- creating a legacy- and leaving a mark… wouldn’t you??

It’s a beautiful, crazy, life… and every mile & moment is a lifetime of memories. The most “worth it” and fulfilling dream we have ever chased.

TALENT TUESDAY:

Amy Jo is one of our talented ROOKIES this season.

Although she comes backed by many years of experience performing in the arena… stepping into a professional-level team environment made her a rookie all over again. In a world, she thought she understood….

Through the trials… the tears… the long hours… the mental battles… and the relentless hard work that ultimately led to her success becoming a triple threat in the industry in 6 months time. Amy Jo realized something important:

“Future rookies might benefit from hearing the truth from someone who just walked the road.”

So… she started journaling about the real behind-the-scenes journey of becoming a rookie at this level.

The lessons learned.
The surprises no one tells you about.
The challenges.
The victories.

Sometimes the best roadmap comes from someone who’s still got dust on their boots from the trail.

Amy Jo has begun sharing her Rookie Survival Guide for future generations brave enough to chase this dream…

After all… “Your Gonna Love It Here…”

—————— LETS TAKE A PEEK—————-

Chapter 1:

Rookie QUESTION:

Do y’all practice more than 1–2 hours at a time? I’d hate to drive all that distance and spend all that fuel just to ride a little while. Weather exceptions?

MY THOUGHTS:

Surely we’ll ride a couple hours, talk some, hang out, and head home.

ANSWER:

Absolutely not.

This team practices like they’re preparing for war.

A “short” practice is basically mythical.

Texas Spirit Riders practices are usually:

6 hours
7 hours
8 hours
“What day is it?” hours

With maybe:

2 or 3 quick ten-minute breaks
Water your horse
Drink something
Regret your life choices
Get back in the arena
Don’t dare complain

There have been MANY days where we’ve left home before daylight and rolled back into the driveway 20–22 hours later.

And I can honestly say:
I have NEVER walked away from a TSR practice feeling like my time was wasted. Ever.

This is not:

Ride around and socialize practice
Sit on the fence practice
“I have dinner plans later” practice

This is:
“We are staying until this is RIGHT” practice.

And when it’s finally over?
You will slideeeee off the back of your horse like a melted candle wishing for:

A hot tub
Epsom salt
Silence
Advil
Sleep
Possibly medical attention

But you’ll also leave stronger than when you came. EVERY. SINGLE. TIME.
