Dylan Haze had some tough matchups on day 1 of the IESA Class A State Championships. He went 0-2 but is only the 2nd sixth grader in school history to make it to the IESA State Tournament.
Sadie Dixon had a strong showing on day 1 of the IKWF State Championships going 2-2. This is only her 2nd season of wrestling and she went and competed with much more experienced wrestlers.
Congratulations to both wrestlers for having such great seasons.
Cora Linneman has fallen into the consolation bracket and is prepared to battle her way back into the medal rounds.
Colton Moreno is in the Semifinals and looking to move his way up the podium.

Good luck to our 815 Stateline wrestlers Cora Linneman, Sadie Dixon, and Colton Moreno who will be competing in the IKWF State Championships tomorrow morning in Peoria, IL.

I want to start this post by giving a HUGE shoutout to my little brother Nikko and HWC for coaching our IKWF wrestlers in Rockford today. Thank you to all the parents, family, and friends in both buildings for supporting their athletes. Thank you to Michael Knight for riding with us and supporting his teammates in Summit. Great job to our wrestlers that didn’t advance on a great season. They both fought all the way back in the consolations but fell short. Congratulations to our State Qualifiers!

Tonight our athletes got to learn from a high school and college standout. Coach Blanton was a four time state finalist, three time state champion at R-B. He went on to wrestle for the University of Illinois where he became a three time All-American. Our wrestlers worked hard and it was a great opportunity for A-H. Thanks to the HWC for opening their doors and allowing us to come in and compete.

Tonight our middle school Sectional Qualifiers were invited to travel a bit West and learn from some of Harvards greats. Hall of Fame wrestling coach Tim Haak was back in town to help our youth. He brought along David Abel and Ryan Sciame, two wrestlers from his 1992 State Championship Team. It was a great practice. Our wrestlers got lots of reps in and I believe they got a little better today. Thank you to all the Harvard coaches that were involved. What a great opportunity for our wrestlers and a huge thank you to Mike Vest for the invite.

Our middle school wrestlers had a pretty solid weekend on the mats. We had four wrestle in the IESA Regionals at Johnsburg High School on Saturday. Two advanced to Sectionals next week in Summit, IL. Today we had four compete in the IKWF Regionals at Byron High School. All four advanced to Sectionals in Rockford, IL. Please congratulate our athletes for their accomplishments. Great job Giants!

Tonight we traveled to Lake Forest to wrestle in a triangular. Our young Giants wrestled tough against Deer Path winning four of our seven matches. We must have really made an impression because Wilmette didn’t even want to wrestle us. That’s a huge win if you ask me. Great job Giants! I also want to give a huge shout out to the families that drove out to support us. Sorry we didn’t get more matches in.
