We hope you are enjoying our series of posts this week helping you get to know a little more about your Winfield Boys Basketball Coaches. Coach Jed Worline is our next coach. Coach Jed, as the guys refer to him is a do it all coach for our guys. He is an incredible man that any parent would be grateful to know is helping mentor and be present for your son. His enthusiasm and passion for youth and basketball go together extremely well.

With more than 25 years of coaching experience spanning Ohio, Michigan, and West Virginia, Coach Jed Worline has dedicated his life to developing young people both in athletics and in character. His passion for mentorship, leadership, and competition has made a lasting impact on countless student-athletes throughout his coaching career.

As a player, Worline earned recognition as a member of the 1999 and 2000 Lifeline National All-Tournament Teams while competing at Continental High School, establishing a foundation of hard work and competitive excellence that continues to shape his coaching philosophy today.

Throughout his coaching career, Coach Worline has experienced success across multiple sports and levels. As Head Coach of Winfield Middle School Cross Country, he guided his teams to MVAC Championships while helping develop five nationally ranked runners. On the basketball court, he led the Winfield Middle School JV Basketball team to a perfect 15-0 season as head coach. As an assistant coach with the Winfield High School Boys Basketball program, he has helped mentor athletes who have earned three All-State selections, a Conference Player of the Year, a Kanawha Valley Defensive Player of the Year, and 17 All-Conference honors, while also contributing to a WVSSAC State Tournament Final Four appearance.

Beyond athletics, Coach Worline has devoted 25 years to ministry and service. He currently serves as Pastor of Faith & Family Church and as a Chaplain for CAMC Hospitals, providing spiritual guidance and support throughout the community. His commitment to faith, family, and servant leadership is evident in every aspect of his life.

Coach Worline and his wife, Marsha, are proud parents of three childrenβ€”Parker, Pierce, and Gracie. Whether coaching on the court, mentoring in the classroom, or serving through ministry, he remains committed to building champions both on and off the court.

We continue this week re-introducing our wonderful Winfield Boys Basketball coaches to our wonderful Winfield Community. Today, we want to recognize Coach Mike Laughery.

With a passion for developing young athletes and a commitment to building winning programs, Mike Laughery has dedicated more than two decades to coaching basketball at every level. His leadership, consistency, and investment in player development have made him an integral part of the Winfield basketball tradition.

A graduate of SAHS, Laughery earned Honorable Mention All-Conference honors during his playing career from 1992-1994, establishing the foundation for a lifelong involvement in the game.

He carried that competitive spirit into coaching, beginning as the SCHS Freshman Team Head Coach in 2003 before leading an AAU program in 2004. From 2010-2016, Laughery guided the Winfield Youth League and All-Star teams, helping shape the next generation of players in the community. He then served as Winfield Middle School Head Coach from 2017-2023, highlighted by an undefeated season in 2020 that showcased his ability to develop disciplined, team-first basketball.

Since joining the Winfield High School staff in 2023 as JV Head Coach and Varsity Assistant, Laughery has played a key role in one of the program’s most successful eras. During his tenure, the Generals have produced three All-State selections, a Conference Player of the Year, a Kanawha Valley Defensive Player of the Year, 17 All-Conference selections, and a WVSSAC State Tournament Final Four appearance. His emphasis on fundamentals, accountability, and culture has helped prepare student-athletes for success both on and off the court.

Away from basketball, Laughery holds both a Master of Science and Bachelor of Business Administration from Marshall University and serves as the Operations Manager for Vandalia Health LabWorks. He is also a devoted husband to Mary Beth and proud father to Tanner, Toby, and Tyler, bringing the same values of family, leadership, and service to every aspect of his life.

Winfield Boys Basketball thrives in a culture of servant driven leadership. In the coming days we will be showcasing our coaching staff to show them appreciation for the work they put into your community basketball program and as you will see this staff has been successful in teaching and developing a lot of talented players well beyond the court.

Let us introduce;

Coach Jordan Stowers who serves as the Strength & Conditioning Coordinator and Varsity Assistant Coach with a proven track record of developing championship-level athletes and programs. Known for his intensity, leadership, and commitment to player development, Stowers has built a reputation for helping athletes maximize their potential both physically and mentally.

As an athlete, Stowers earned All State, All Kanawha Valley, and All Conference honors in baseball, laying the foundation for a coaching career centered around discipline, toughness, and competitive excellence.

Throughout his coaching career, Stowers has contributed to sustained success across multiple programs. While serving as Strength & Conditioning Coach and Varsity Assistant Coach at HHS Baseball, the program compiled an impressive 141-30 record and captured a State Championship in 2014. During his time with TVCS Basketball as Strength & Conditioning Coach, the team achieved a 102-44 record and earned a Top 25 National Ranking.

Currently at WHS Basketball as Strength & Conditioning Coach and Varsity Assistant Coach, Stowers has helped guide the program to numerous individual and team accomplishments, including 3 All State selections, a Conference Player of the Year, a Kanawha Valley Defensive Player of the Year, 17 All Conference selections, and a WVSSAC State Tournament Final Four appearance. The program has also posted a 54-42 overall record during his tenure.

Across all programs, Stowers has played a role in developing 12 professional athletes, including one NBA player and one MLB player, along with more than 35 college athletes. His coaching impact also includes mentoring a High School Top 100 rated player, 2 State Players of the Year, and 13 All State selections.

Outside of coaching, Stowers serves as Director of Operations for Snap Fitness-WV. He is also preparing for an exciting new chapter in life as the soon-to-be husband of Erin and an expecting father.

Today is the day these girls have been working for all year! Come out as the Lady Generals play in the state championship for a chance at making history. They will play the winner of Herbert Hoover and John Marshall at 1:30PM. Wear your green and come out and watch them fight for another state title!!
