I just want to take a moment to put a thank you out. It has been great to see the new faces at the gun range become members and joining trap league. Thank you to the teams that have taken on a new member so that everyone found a spot.
Some of those new faces came as a complete team, thanks for joining!
There is also the return of a team we haven’t seen for a few years, welcome back gentleme, good to see you! Lastly, thank you to the members that continue to show up year after year, you are the backbone that has kept the club going.
It was nice to see the number of shooters that showed last night, we have not seen that many in a few years!

Reminder:

Minimum of 5 max of 7 on a team. 5 members have to record 10 weeks of scoring to qualify for the team 50 bird shoot off at the end of the year.

You can join an existing team anytime of the season but need to record 10 rounds to participate in the individual 50 bird shoot off.

You can be a member and not be on a team, this would be if you just want to come out and shoot for practice.

Each person can shoot two evenings on an “open” status for 5.00 each night. After that you will need to become a member.

You can shoot multiple rounds in one night to make the 10 round requirement for the 50 bird shoot off.

To answer some of the questions coming in and to clarify the difference between the shooting/ archery range and the Sun Valley Gun Club.

COTTONWOOD COUNTY GAME & FISH LEAGUE:
Having a membership to the Game & Fish League will give you access the the shooting range and the archery range. You do not need to be a member of the Sun Valley Gun Club if you are just looking to use the shooting range.

The yearly membership for Game & Fish is $20.00 for individual and $30.00 for family. The range does not have any lights for shooting after dark. Feel free to shoot anytime from sunup to sundown. Each person shooting needs to have a membership. If you have a guest with you that wants to shoot but is not a member there is a drop box with forms for payment at the range for single day access.
Memberships can be purchased at Johnson Hardware and runnings of Windom during their regular business hours.

SUN VALLEY GUN CLUB:
To be a member of the gun club you must also have a membership to the Game & Fish league. Game & Fish own the property and building, the gun club is given access to the property and building. The gun club owns the trap houses, throwing equipment and supplies the clay birds.

The yearly membership for the Sun Valley Gun Club is $35.00. You must also purchase tokens for each round you shoot. Tokens are $7.00 for an individual and $60.00 for a roll of 10. Trap league shoots on Tuesday evenings. The trap range does have lights to be able to shoot after dark if needed. There is a team fee of $150.00 which the team can find a sponsor for or split the cost between team members and create a name for your team. Teams consist of a minimum of 5 shooters, max of 7 shooters. Minimum of 5 team members must record 10 rounds of shooting to qualify for the end of season 50 bird shoot off.
There is also a youth league with reduced prices, also shoots on Tuesday nights. To shoot you must be 18 or have passed a fire arms safety course.

Memberships can be purchased on Tuesday nights at the club house.

These are the BASIC rules of the gun club. If you are interested in shooting clay birds and being on a league then the Sun Valley Gun Club welcomes you to become a member. If you are just looking to use the ranges then you only need the Game & Fish membership.

Cottonwood County Game & Fish league has a separate page.
Both clubs do try and answer questions for each other. We may not know the answers immediately but will contact someone from the other club to get the answers for you or direct you to the people that can get you the information you need.

Sun Valley Gun Club:
