Hey everyone, I hope you are well and are excited about the return of football next week. I wanted to give reminders and updates for spring football practice that begins next week. Please remember that in order to participate you must have a valid physical on file at the school. Practice will be the next 2 weeks Monday-Thursday from 3:15 to 5:45. Player will need to bring t-shirt, shorts, cleats, tennis shoes, and a water bottle. Please remember that players will need to be picked up on time from the players parking lot. Parents of basketball players and cheerleaders. As I understand, HMMS & Barrow County Schools have decided to "postpone" making a decision about basketball until December 1. By doing so, our children will be robbed of yet another opportunity to compete and represent their school. Our children are in school 5 days per week with face to face instruction. The high school students are getting their opportunities to compete. The recreation department is having football now and registration for basketball is happening now, as are middle school basketball tryouts in Oconee and Jackson Counties, both of which we compete against. Why are OUR kids at the middle school being deprived of this opportunity?

Seems as though we might need to start contacting the school and encourage them to allow basketball and cheerleading.

Am I the only parent disappointed that middle school football/cheer/volleyball seasons were canceled, leaving the middle school kids without an opportunity to compete? Seems more than unfair seeing as how HS are playing and Barrow County Rec is playing.
