Remembering Leo Lauretano -
The past few weeks have been difficult for many of us, as we grieve the passing of Leo Lauretano, a longtime WTA member, a Packer Ellis regular, and a beloved Wi******er resident.
Leo spent virtually his entire life in Wi******er after moving here from Somerville as a young boy. After learning how to play tennis at the Packer Ellis Tennis courts, he developed a lifelong love for the sport. He was a member of the Wi******er High School tennis team and became an accomplished player. If you visit the trophy case upstairs at the Wi******er Indoor Tennis Center, you’ll find his name listed as champion multiple times, beginning in 1981.
A lifetime member of the Wi******er Tennis Association, Leo was a true fixture at the Packer Ellis courts. He contributed generously to many of the Association’s events and brought people together through his love of the game. Leo loved to hang out at the courts and talk with friends as much as playing tennis. If Leo was not at the courts, he was either taking care of his patients, playing guitar, or with his family. He was one of the smartest, kindest, most thoughtful individuals I have ever met. Leo was personable, a wonderful conversationalist, and a true gentleman. He will be missed immensely by all who knew him.
The family requests that donations made in Leo’s memory be directed to the Wi******er Tennis Association, c/o Chrissy Bordonaro, 8 Viking Rd, Wi******er, MA 01890.
All contributions given in Leo’s name will support the creation of a memorial at the Packer Ellis Courts, honoring his love of the game and enduring impact on our community.
Please keep Leo and his family in your thoughts.
