As a Mary Kay consultant years ago, training in scheduling appointments, a tactic we learned was filling our calendar with everything in our lives from time set aside for cleaning, to taking our kids to sports practices and games, to time set aside for quiet meditation.
The thought process was that others would see your calendar as “full”, see you as busy and want to partner with you because they see you as successful. It was called “fake it until you make it”. Looking back, I can see that was terrible advice.
John C. Maxwell said it better:
“You don’t fake it ‘till you make it. You learn it ‘till you earn it.”
