Dear VA USA Members,
The Virginia Wrestling Association (VA USA) is now accepting nominations for elected Board positions. This email outlines the nomination and election process, who may participate, the positions currently open, and exactly what is required for a nomination to be accepted.
BOARD ELECTION PROCESS
To ensure the process is clear and consistent statewide:
1. Nominations are submitted by the membership.
Eligible members of Virginia Wrestling may nominate qualified individuals for any position currently open for election.
2. Nominations must be complete and received by the deadline.
7The nomination period is: August 27, 2026 – September 7, 2026 at 12:00 PM (Noon)
Nominations received after 12:00 PM (Noon) on September 7, 2026 will not be considered.
3. Candidates will be finalized after nominations close.
Following the nomination deadline, all timely and complete nominations will be reviewed and the eligible candidates will be compiled for the election.
4. Voting is conducted by current chartered clubs and Board members.
Each current Virginia-chartered club receives one (1) vote, regardless of club size. Board members also participate in voting.
The votes cast by eligible chartered clubs and Board members will determine the individuals elected to the open positions.
Additional instructions regarding the candidates, voting period, and ballot process will be provided to eligible voters after nominations close.
POSITIONS OPEN FOR ELECTION
The positions listed below are open for nomination based on the conclusion of the applicable term and/or current vacancy; listing a position as open should not be interpreted as an indication of whether a current officeholder intends to seek another term. Members who wish to view the current Board composition and individuals presently serving in each position may visit the Virginia Wrestling Association website.
Nominations are currently being accepted for:
Chairman — Current-Steve Steigler
Vice President of Finance — Position is now vacant and open for election
Member-at-Large #2 — Current-Jihoon Shin
Women's Outreach and Development — Current-Sarah Bahoura (Fulp-Allen)
Information regarding the duties and responsibilities of each open position is available on the Virginia Wrestling Association website. We encourage members to review this information to better understand the scope and minimum expectations of each role before submitting a nomination
HOW TO SUBMIT A NOMINATION
All nominations must be submitted by email to: [email protected]
For each individual nominated, the email must include ALL of the following:
Nominee's full legal name (first and last)
Phone number
Email address
Club affiliation, if applicable
Board position for which the individual is being nominated
Brief statement of recommendation explaining why the nominee is qualified and would be a strong fit for the position
If nominating more than one individual, please provide the required information separately for each nominee. Incomplete nominations may not be advanced for consideration. Submission of a name alone does not constitute a complete nomination.

After the nomination period closes, eligible candidates will be finalized and additional election information will be distributed to the current chartered clubs and other eligible voters.
Virginia Wrestling depends on engaged members who are willing to identify and support qualified leaders from across the Commonwealth. We encourage our membership to participate in this process and nominate individuals who have the experience, commitment, and willingness to serve Virginia Wrestling and its athletes, coaches, clubs, and families.
