Indiana Mavericks Come Up Short Against NWO Lady Buckeyes

Mavericks lost to Buckeyes 5-1 on Sunday at Paul G. Duke Park.

Mavericks were the first to get on the board in the third when Paige Felver lined out, scoring one run.

Buckeyes flipped the game on its head in the bottom of the fourth, scoring five runs on four hits to take the lead, 5-1. The biggest blow in the inning was a single by Jenna Wannamacher that drove in two.

Lexis Metcalfe earned the win for Buckeyes. The right-handed pitcher gave up two hits and one run over three innings, striking out three and walking three. Devin Campbell took the loss for Mavericks. The starter went three innings, surrendering four runs (zero earned) on two hits, striking out one and walking none.

Felver and Doll each collected one hit for Mavericks. Felver led Mavericks with one run batted in. The number three hitter went 1-for-2 on the day.

Mia Mammone, Wannamacher, Lilli Guisinger, and Mar Haynes each collected one hit for Buckeyes. Wannamacher and Guisinger each drove in two runs for Buckeyes.

Indiana Mavericks 18U Defeated By The Valley Storm/Holub 18u

Mavericks fell to Valley Storm 4-1 on Saturday at Paul G. Duke Park.

Valley Storm jumped out to the lead in the top of the third inning after Ella Snyder ‘27 singled, scoring one run, and Tay Swartz ‘27 doubled, scoring two runs.

Kylie Gentis ’26 earned the win for Valley Storm. The pitcher gave up one hit and zero runs over four innings, striking out three and walking two. Harlee VanHoose took the loss for Mavericks. The starter went two and two-thirds innings, allowing three runs on five hits, striking out one and walking three.

Brook Hunkler, Natilyn McClain, and Kelly Holsinger each collected one hit for Indiana Mavericks 18U. Holsinger led Indiana Mavericks 18U with one run batted in. The outfielder went 1-for-2 on the day.

Valley Storm piled up eight hits in the game. Swartz ‘27 drove the middle of the lineup, leading Valley Storm with two runs batted in. The cleanup hitter went 1-for-3 on the day. Gentis ’26 led Valley Storm with two hits in three at bats. Lily Brubaker ‘26, Snyder ‘27, and KJ Rehmert '28 each stole multiple bases for Valley Storm. Valley Storm ran wild on the base paths, piling up 10 stolen bases for the game.

Indiana Mavericks 18U Lose To Ohiowave 18u

Mavericks lost to Ohiowave 6-2 on Saturday at Paul G. Duke Park.

Ohiowave got on the board in the bottom of the first inning after Miley Walls doubled to center field, and Brielle Smith singled down the right field line, each scoring one run.

Ohiowave added to their early lead in the bottom of the second inning after Mavericks committed an error, #1 doubled to center field, and Claire Royer grounded out, each scoring one run.

Walls earned the win for Ohiowave. The righty allowed zero hits and zero runs over three innings, striking out five and walking three. Ava Doll took the loss for Mavericks. The right-handed pitcher went four innings, allowing six runs (three earned) on six hits, striking out none and walking one.

Paige Felver, Alyssa Walbridge, Kayla Whitley, and Harlee VanHoose each collected one hit for Mavericks.

Indiana Mavericks Falls To M22 fastpitch

Mavericks fell to M22 6-5 on Saturday at Mid-America Ballyard.

A single by O Bizzarro on an 0-2 count put M22 on the board in the bottom of the first.

M22 added one run in the second. J Saylets hit a sacrifice fly, making the score 2-0.

Mavericks jumped into the lead in the top of the third when Brook Hunkler singled, scoring one run, and Natilyn McClain doubled, scoring two runs.

M22 jumped into the lead in the bottom of the third when K Doyle singled, scoring one run, and an error scored two runs.

Saylets earned the win for M22. The starting pitcher allowed five hits and five runs (three earned) over five innings, striking out four and walking three. Harlee VanHoose took the loss for Mavericks. The hurler went three innings, giving up five runs (three earned) on five hits, striking out three and walking one.

McClain provided pop in the middle of the lineup, and led Mavericks with two runs batted in. The right-handed hitter went 1-for-3 on the day. Paige Felver, Hunkler, Devin Campbell, Kayla Whitley, and McClain each collected one hit for Mavericks.

E Dunkle led M22 with two hits in two at bats from the leadoff position. Saylets, Bizzarro, K Placke, and Doyle each drove in one run for M22 fastpitch 18u. K Place and Dunkle each stole multiple bases for M22. M22 ran wild on the base paths, collecting nine stolen bases for the game. M22 turned three double plays in the game.

Proud of this group and the fight they showed in our first tournament back since winter. We went toe-to-toe with two quality teams and came up just short, falling 5-3 and 5-1. What makes their effort even more impressive is that we only had eight players available, meaning we had to take an automatic out in the 9th spot while also playing shorthanded defensively.

Despite the adversity, these girls never quit. They battled, put pressure on teams with aggressive baserunning, made big plays, and competed until the final out. Results don’t always tell the whole story, and today showed the toughness, heart, and resilience of this team. Excited to see what this group can accomplish as we continue to get back into the swing of the season. Proud of every one of them! 🥎♥️💛

Team of the Game at Fort Wayne Komets

The Indiana Mavericks 18U travel softball team came off of a great fall and winter season where they brought home Runner-up honors in the 9th Annual Cold Turkey Tournament and were crowned Champions of the Fabulous February All-Nighter. The team is excited to build on this success this summer, which includes a trip to the National Championship in Gulf Shores, Alabama.
