Team of the Game at Fort Wayne Komets

The Indiana Mavericks 18U travel softball team came off of a great fall and winter season where they brought home Runner-up honors in the 9th Annual Cold Turkey Tournament and were crowned Champions of the Fabulous February All-Nighter. The team is excited to build on this success this summer, which includes a trip to the National Championship in Gulf Shores, Alabama.

Indiana Mavericks Survive HOOSIER HURRICANES

Despite seeing their 4-run lead whittled down by the end, Mavericks still held off for a 5-4 victory on Sunday. HURRICANES closed the gap by scoring on a single, a single, an error, and a single.

Mavericks got on the board in the top of the first inning after Brooklynn Headlee doubled, scoring three runs, and Devin Campbell drew a walk, scoring one run.

A single by Aubrey Buroff extended the Mavericks lead to 5-3 in the top of the third inning.

Ava Doll opened the game for Mavericks. The starter allowed six hits and four runs (one earned) over three innings, striking out two and walking two. Tinley Hoaks started in the circle for HURRICANES. The pitcher allowed two hits and four runs over one-third of an inning, striking out none and walking four.

Headlee drove the middle of the lineup, leading
Mavericks with three runs batted in. The right-handed hitter went 1-for-2 on the day. Headlee, Liberty Clevenger, Brook Hunkler, Doll, and Buroff each collected one hit for Mavericks. Mavericks had patience at the plate, piling up six walks for the game. Campbell and Ashlynn Wadsworth led the team with two walks each. Hunkler stole two bases. Mavericks stole seven bases in the game. Mavericks turned one double play in the game.

Averie Hoskins and Alexis Connel were tough to handle back-to-back in the lineup, as each drove in one run for HURRICANES. Carly Hixson led HURRICANES with two hits in two at bats. HURRICANES didn't commit a single error in the field. Faye Springsteen had the most chances in the field with three.

Mavericks were victorious against Velocity 15U 6-3 on Sunday in Lafayette.

Mavericks jumped out to the lead in the top of the first inning after an error scored two runs, Adalyn Shipman drew a walk, scoring one run, Aubrey Buroff drew a walk, scoring one run, and Ava Doll singled, scoring one run.

Devin Campbell earned the win for Mavericks. The pitcher surrendered five hits and two runs over two and two-thirds innings, striking out one and walking two. Reagan Rhinebarger took the loss for Velocity. The starting pitcher went two-thirds of an inning, allowing five runs (zero earned) on zero hits, striking out one and walking three. Doll started in the circle for Mavericks. The pitcher surrendered zero hits and one run (zero earned) over one and one-third innings, striking out one and walking none.

Liberty Clevenger, Paige Felver, and Doll each collected one hit for Mavericks. Doll and Buroff each drove in one run for Mavericks. Mavericks worked the count all day, piling up six walks.

Maddy Narvaez, Ava, Rhinebarger, Madi Miller, and Lilly Byrd each collected one hit for Velocity. Ava went 1-for-2 at the plate and led the team with two runs batted in.

Indiana Mavericks Defeat Tippy Explosion

Indiana Mavericks were triumphant over Tippy Explosion 7-3 on Saturday in Lafayette.

Mavericks got on the board in the top of the first inning after Explosion committed an error, Explosion dropped a third strike, and Devin Campbell laid down a sacrifice bunt, each scoring one run.

Explosion tied the game in the bottom of the first thanks to a single by Olivia Crum, a single by Jackie Tovar, and an error.

Mavericks captured the lead, 6-3, in the top of the second after Ava Doll walked, Brook Hunkler doubled to center field, and Hunkler scored after tagging up, each scoring one run.

Mavericks added one run in the third after Campbell singled to the left side of the infield.

Doll earned the win for Mavericks. The hurler gave up six hits and three runs (two earned) over three innings, striking out three and walking none. Zelda Wampler took the loss for Explosion. The starting pitcher went two innings, surrendering five runs (two earned) on seven hits, striking out three and walking one.

Mavericks piled up eight hits in the game. Adalyn Shipman, Maverick’s number eight hitter, led the team with two hits in two at-bats. Campbell went 1-for-1 at the plate and led the team with two runs batted in. Mavericks stole six bases in the game. Mavericks turned one double play in the game.

Lily Deakins and Sophia Shea were a force together in the lineup, as they each collected two hits for Explosion while hitting back-to-back. Crum went 1-for-2 at the plate and led the team with one run batted in.

Late Score Costs Indiana Mavericks Against Indy Lightning

Sunday's game against Lightning was a heartbreaker for Mavericks, as they lost the lead late in an 8-7 defeat in Lafayette, IN. The game was tied at seven in the top of the fifth when an error scored one run.

Lightning got on the board in the top of the first inning after Parker Taylor singled down the left field line, Maddison Short singled to center field, and Madeline Twargoal grounded out, each scoring one run.

Mavericks jumped back into the lead in the bottom of the first inning after Lightning committed an error, Paige Felver tripled to center field, Alyssa Walbridge singled down the right field line, and Devin Campbell laid down a sacrifice bunt, each scoring one run.

Lightning took the lead, 5-4, in the top of the third thanks to singles by Short, and Twargoal.

Felver singled to the right side of the infield, which helped Mavericks tie the game at five in the bottom of the third.

Lightning jumped back into the lead in the top of the fourth inning after Jillian Garrett doubled to center field, and Taylor singled to center field, each scoring one run.

Liberty Clevenger singled to center field, which helped Mavericks tie the game at seven in the bottom of the fourth.

Short earned the win for Lightning. The right-handed pitcher gave up seven hits and seven runs (six earned) over four and two-thirds innings, striking out five and walking three. Ava Doll took the loss for Mavericks. The starter went three and two-thirds innings, allowing five runs (four earned) on seven hits, striking out five and walking none.

Clevenger, the number nine hitter for Mavericks, led the way with two runs batted in. The infielder went 1-for-2 on the day. Felver and Taylor Tun each collected two hits for Mavericks. Doll stole two bases. Mavericks stole seven bases in the game.

Lightning collected 10 hits in the game. Short, Garrett, Makayla Singh, and Taylor each collected two hits for Lightning. Twargoal, Short, and Taylor each drove in two runs for Lightning. Singh stole three bases. Lightning ran wild on the base paths, piling up seven stolen bases for the game.

Started out with a loss the 1st game, but after knocking some dust off, came out strong in game 2!

Bottom Of The Lineup Carries Indiana Mavericks Past St Louis Angels
The bottom of the lineup helped Mavericks capture a 5-0 victory over Angels on Saturday. Hannah Woolston, Alyssa Walbridge, and Devin Campbell combined for four of the team's seven hits in the victory. They scored two runs and drove in one.
In the bottom of the first inning, Mavericks went further into the lead after Brook Hunkler tripled to center field, and Paige Felver walked, each scoring one run.
Mavericks added to their early lead in the bottom of the second inning after Ava Doll singled to left field, and Walbridge scored after tagging up, each scoring one run.
Mavericks added one run in the third after Campbell singled to right field.
Campbell earned the win for Mavericks. The pitcher gave up two hits over two innings, striking out none and walking none. #77 took the loss for Angels. The pitcher went two innings, allowing five runs on five hits, striking out one and walking three. Walbridge threw one and two-thirds innings of no-run ball for Mavericks in relief. The reliever surrendered one hit, striking out three and walking one.
Hunkler went 1-for-3 at the plate and led the team with two runs batted in. Woolston and Doll each collected two hits for Mavericks. Felver and Taylor Tun each stole multiple bases for Mavericks. Mavericks stole eight bases in the game.
Tennyson, the cleanup hitter went 1-for-2 on the day. Miranda Machalek, Tennyson, and Madison Wood each collected one hit for Angels. Angels were sure-handed and didn't commit a single error. #77 made the most plays with one.
