The husband-wife team has been involved with Track & Field for most their lives-first as athletes, and now as parent-coaches of their two sons, Benjamin and Noah. Over the years, many of their friends asked how to get their children involved in track and field. Those requests, along with the desire to offer a fun team atmosphere for their boys to experience, is what finally led to the formation o

f Hill Country Comets.


•Our primary goals are to share the love and passion that we have for this sport, and help to promote involvement in track and field in the Texas Hill Country.
•We will strive to develop athletes physically in a fun, motivating, and supportive training atmosphere.
•We believe that the basic skills learned in track and field are beneficial and can be applied to all sports.
•We will encourage every athlete to set personal goals and see the direct results of their hard work.
•We promise to respect and treat all athletes equally regardless of talent levels.

"WHAT CAN SUMMER TRACK DO FOR YOU?"

My name is Jamarri Bowie, I’m a freshman at UTSA running division 1 track. I started my sophomore year of high school and joined the comets that summer. At first I joined just to run with my friends over summer for fun but it quickly turned into a lifestyle for me that I loved. Coach Jane taught me what school doesn’t in track and completely transformed me as a runner.

My sophomore year pr’s were 12.48 in the 100m and 23.77 in the 200m. That next year after training with the comets I ran 10.8 and 21.87 in the 200m. Coach Jane showed me what it really meant to put in the work. I had hard practices that payed off every time in the long run. Days to where I felt like I didn’t want to run track anymore, but that feeling of crossing the line first made it all so worth it. She showed me how a sprinter who wanted to be the best should train and I will say whole heartedly I wouldn’t be where I am today without her.

Besides just being a coach, Jane truly cares about all of her athletes and wants to see us be and feel our best. She is an understanding coach knowing when I was having off days or hurting to not keep pushing me, but also knew when I was just slacking and I needed to turn it up. Coach jane has not just transformed me but many of my friends that also run for her into completely new athletes.

My senior year after sticking with comets I ended up crushing my schools 400 record from 49.1 to 47.4 breaking it 4 times in a row. Us comets back to school track in february clearly in better shape than everyone else and just on another level.

Joining comets has been honestly one of the best decisions of my life. I have met so many of my closest friends through this team and made such amazing memories that I will never forget. Besides of all the training, I genuinely had fun competing and training with this team they felt and still feel like my second family to this day. If you have an interest in track I encourage you to join you will be surrounded by hard workers and the right coaches.
