Our last week has come and gone, Jaye and I would like to start this post by recognizing the hard work and dedication that our guides have shown to make this past season a huge success. I have worked and owned Sunset View Lodge for 38 years and would love to share with you this is the best and most successful year yet!

Hunting with a bow presents challenges as a few can attest even a gun hunter can miss! As I have a picture here of him holding his trophy LOL. some make it look easy being successful but in all actuality it takes discipline / patience. You have it all figured out and guess what nature has other ideas, now you’re competing with the heat / rain / and now mosquitoes that can find you with that 1/4 inch dagger penetrating into the back of your neck.

These are just a few obstacles the guide and hunters need to discuss as you adapt and overcome. Success will prevail!

Making fond memories some successful and some leaving you itching to get back here to do it again while some just don’t want to leave.
Some times we just want to climb into a boat and go fishing. While out on the water relaxing hooking fish telling jokes and laughing you look around and you have to admire your surroundings you’re in the middle of nowhere all the fish you want to catch, geese/ ducks and loons most of the time it’s just your boat seams to be the only boat on the lake with the abundance of islands and miles of unique shoreline combined with the perfect rock structure to fish.

What a spot we have here!

What an extraordinary week with 5 repeat hunters and 13 new hunters.

It’s not uncommon for our guides to tag out during the week but every now and then guide gets a hat trick (all 3 of his hunters score in the same evening sit).
Congrats to Troy Sullivan on his hat tick well done!

Bears are really active on the baits with multiple sightings breeding season is here makes for an exciting sit with lots of action.

You do your part listen to your guide, keep up scent under control, quietly sitting still, stay off your cellphone, know your weapon. It’s just a matter of time then it’s the heart pounding adrenaline rush. It’s you now make it count! Silently ease your safety off, control your heartbeats and fine down on your sights and squeeze it off gently.

Our guides are a wealth of knowledge they want to see you successful it means a lot to them as many of our repeat hunters have become close friends with their guides over the years.

Bass fishing is incredible this past week every group was out fishing during the day. If they weren’t fishing they were helping me skin bear. This week was like the movie (Jeremiah Johnson).

Can you skin Grizz, just a minute pilgrim I’ll bring you another. LOL 😂

Good times had by all lots of fun and action here.

3rd week of spring bear here at Sunset View Lodge in McAdam New Brunswick on Palfrey lake. What an enjoyable week we had with long time hunters fisherman and friends. Most of these hunters have been coming here this week for many years. Some like Dave Pelletier and Keith Proulx have been hunting with us since the early 80’s, same with Terry Faggio he’s harvesting close to 30 bears over the years now he comes just to fish and offer moral support (actually he’s kind of a social butterfly) LOL 😂. Terry, Keith and Dave catch a bunch of white perch every year this same week and we have a fish fry on Friday evening meal it’s turned into a ritual that we all look forward to.

On Sunday when Dave Pelletier showed up here at camp Dave surprised us with a treat (lobsters and clams) to go along with our Sunday night Steak dinner, we had surf and turf.
Thank you Dave this was very much appreciated!
And the same to Terry, Dave, and Keith for catching and filleting all those white perch.

Just a note for the 3 weeks hunting every hunter has seen bear some seeing multiple and some seeing sows with cubs and others just not able to get the shot preferred.

Another memorable full week of fun with happy hunters and a huge shout out to all our hunters & guides for a remarkable week. And a special thank you to guide (Jim Little) as he got a hat trick on Monday evening 3 hunters & 3 bear, M.V.G.(most valuable guide) for the week. All joking aside all of these guides are phenomenal in what they do.

3rd week of bear camp was a great time as usual. We had a few new faces this week.
We had a group of 3 Frank Pascoe and his 2 sons,Joseph Pascoe and Kenny Pascoe all 3 got their bears the same evening which made a great picture.
Another group of 3 Jason Undereiner,Jason Cevarr and Andrew Elder all 3 got their bears. Jason Undereiner harvested his 1st bear with his bow and his 2nd with a gun. Brian Henry, this is his 2nd year in a row.
Dave Peltier and keith Proulx have been hunting here with us many years Dave actually started hunting here in the early 80’s with Sonny Wade. Jaye and I bought the lodge from Sonny in 1989 and Dave probably only missed 2 years from then to now close to 35 years with us. Peter Flanagan , Rich Lewis, Rich Lothrup, Jay Romer, John Lovisone, Tim Papovich, John Oblick, Ron and Lisa
Terry Faggio came up just to fish this week always a great time and lots of laughter 😂 we missed Jack Gorham this year as he wasn’t able to make it. Terry, Dave Peltier and Keith Proulx provided us with a fish fry on Friday evening to finish out the week.
Weeks like this is what it’s all about the camaraderie, great friends and lots of laughter making memories and story telling.

Congratulations to all hunters and guides well done!
6 bear harvested all bear recovered with every hunter having opportunities and some with multiple chances. Some actually seeing 5 to 6 bear.
Dennis Gareis comes 2 different weeks each year in hopes to harvest 2 bears which he has been lucky enough to do for the last 3 or 4 year’s. The tree’s are just starting to leaf out, the bug’s have stared which always makes for great hunting.
Special thanks to all the guides and to Tony whose hunters all tagged out by Wednesday.

We had 8 hunters with 17 bears offering opportunities. With 5 bears harvested and 3 others unrecovered. Everyone having an opportunity.

Someone recently asked me why I like Trump. My answer was that I don't always like Trump. I don't like the way he speaks sometimes. But this election is not about choosing the most likeable person.

We are voting between two vastly different ideologies. We are voting for the country we want to leave our children and grandchildren.

Trump represents that future and has proven that he can deliver. He is a patriot to the core and even served his country for 4 years without pay.

After being asked this question a few times by colleagues and friends, even family members, I thought about actually putting it in writing. Then I came across this....( I'm sure it's been copied and edited and pasted many times, but it's a start.

That moment when someone says,
"I can't believe you're voting for Trump". I simply reply, “I'm NOT voting for Trump.”

I'm voting for the First Amendment and freedom of speech. I'm voting for the right to speak my opinion and not be censored.

I’m voting for secure borders and LEGAL immigration. I am voting for election integrity to include mandatory voter ID. (Why would anyone vote against this?)

I'm voting for the Second Amendment and my right to defend my life and my family.

I'm voting for the police to be respected once again.

I am voting for law & order and an end to allowing protesters to trespass and burn our cities, destroying innocent small business. (Tim Walz)

I am voting for personal responsibility and the end of the revolving door where criminals are being put back on the street. (Kamala Harris)

I'm voting for the next Supreme Court Justice(s) to protect the Constitution and the Bill of Rights.

I’m voting for a return of our troops from foreign countries.

I'm voting for the Electoral College and for the Republic in which we live.

I’m voting for the continued appointment of Federal Judges who respect the Constitution and the Bill of Rights.

I’m voting for keeping our jobs to remain in America and not be outsourced all over the world - to China, Mexico and other foreign countries.

I am voting for doing away with all of the freebies given to all of the illegals and not looking after the needs of the American citizens and homeless veterans.

I'm voting for the Military & the Veterans who fought for this country!

I'm voting to keep men out of women's sports.

I’m voting for peace progress in the Middle East.

I’m voting to fight against human/child trafficking.

I'm voting for Freedom of Religion.

I am voting for the return of teaching math, history, and science instead of the indoctrination of our children.

I'm not just voting for one person.
I'm voting for the future of my Country.🇺🇸

I'm voting for my children and my grandchildren to ensure their freedoms

America is the greatest country in the world, hense why everyone wants to immigrate here. So why do you want to change it?

Why do politicians want to enact policies that have failed in other countries throughout history?

I'm not voting for Trump.
I'm voting for America! 🇺🇸
