Team DBR came ready for battle on 5/16/26.
The crew has been working nonstop to give Ryan Marshall a fast, reliable race car, and this week it showed from the moment we unloaded. In hot laps, Ryan laid down the 2nd quickest time of the night. Huge shoutout to Michelle Jacobson for pulling the #2 pill, putting us on the pole of the heat race.
The heat race was a fight right from the drop of the green. The bottom lane had almost no traction, and as the track changed throughout the night, we kept making adjustments to stay ahead of it. Ryan drove a strong race and brought home a 2nd-place finish.
For the feature, the invert draw once again went our way with a #2, putting us on the outside of the front row in P2. Ryan got a solid start and settled into 2nd early, but it didn’t take long before the battle for the lead was on.
What followed was some of the best racing this series has seen in a long time.
Lap after lap, Ryan searched for every inch of racetrack, pressuring the leader and showing incredible patience while dealing with inconsistent lines and aggressive defensive driving. The leader was doing everything possible to hold the top spot, making the car as wide as he could and changing lines constantly to break Ryan’s momentum.
By lap five, traffic from behind started closing in, and Ryan knew it was time to make a move. Coming off turn two, he finally got the run we had been waiting for and carried momentum down the backstretch with the lead within reach heading into turn three.
Unfortunately, the outside car cut low trying to slow our momentum and protect the position. Ryan stood on the brakes trying to avoid tearing up both cars, but contact was unavoidable. The impact broke the front shock and ended our night early.
The results sheet won’t show what really happened.
If you were at Wilmot Raceway watching that race, you saw something special. That was some of the hardest, cleanest, and most exciting racing for the lead this series has had in a long time. There was slide-job racing, crossover momentum, pressure, near passes, and nonstop action. One car was clearly faster, and the other driver was doing absolutely everything possible to keep us behind him.
We are close. Very close.
This Team DBR group keeps getting faster every single week, and Ryan Marshall is driving at another level right now. Victory lane is coming.
See you soon, Wilmot Raceway.
