I don't have words to express how beautiful this community is and how grateful I am to every single person who participated in our Farm Meet and Greet today. To say I am blessed is an understatement. The turnout was amazing and far beyond what I expected.

Our little barn community is like no other. I grew up here, I worked at local barns, competed and more. I have never seen a group of people that band together in the face of struggle like the families and friends of Our Journey Stables.

We faced a hard year for 2026. We lost our sweet Snow and have faced health issue after health issue with our horses. Every time, the students, parents, grandparents and friends come together.

I was struggling greatly with Sky's new health concerns and surgery. I was feeling defeated and wondering if this was all worth it. Of course, when it rains it pours. After 10+ years of ups and downs, all the changes, challenges, new horses and saying goodbye to Snow, I was feeling a hopeless.

Today showed me that what we are doing here at OJS still makes a difference. The joy, smiles, support, and love that poured out to Sky and myself and our community was beyond what words can describe.

I started this barn at 21 years old with about $1,500 in my pocket, a young horse (Adeen)and a sweet mare named Snow White and a prayer that chasing this dream would work. That it would make a difference for the kid I used to be who just wanted to love horses. I never in a million years thought it would be what it is today.

I am beyond grateful to every single person who loves this barn and has supported OJS over the years. I could not ask for a better group of people to grow the love of horses with.

Thank you all for everything you do. A special thank you to all of the parents who helped behind the scenes and at the event today. You guys rock.

I will keep everyone updated on Sky's progress this week. Send your prayers for healing ๐Ÿ™

Hey everyone,

As many of you know, we had some health issues pop up for Sky these past few weeks. In addition to her Navicular diagnosis, we are fairly certain she has an abdominal hernia.

Unfortunately, this can become an emergency VERY quickly. There is a surgery that we can do to help her and hopefully save her, if it is indeed a hernia. Hernias in horses can become life-threatening over night.

With that being said, surgery is expensive so I am hosting a fundraiser for her on Sunday morning at the barn. As well as a virtual fundraiser for anyone who can't make it on Sunday!

SUNDAY MEET AND GREET!

- 8:30am-1pm come out for a Meet and Greet! Horse rides available for kids! Bunnies, chickens, ducks, chicks, ducklings, pony, horses and a goat for petting!

VIRTUAL RAFFLE FUNDRAISER!

- $10 per spot. We will draw 1 number for every 100 spots filled. The winners will receive a 6 week lesson package at our barn! You can message me directly to participate in this fundraiser. The fundraiser will close Wednesday afternoon.

For those who do not know, all of our horses are from neglect or abuse situations and we rehab them into lesson horses.

Sky is 16 years old and was pulled from an abuse situation. After a short rehab start at another facility, she came to us malnourished, reactive and very confused. She has been with us 4 years. She turned into the most amazing horse. She is patient and good for anyone. Sky survived a nearly fatal colic in 2024. She fought against all odds and came through two twists in her small intestine and colon.

Sky currently struggles with Navicular Disease, Asthma and now a hernia that can become an emergency if we don't get a full surgical evaluation.

She had an appointment on Wednesday Sept 9th to get a surgical evaluation and surgery on Sept 10th if she is eligible.

All proceeds from these fundraisers go directly into a medical fund for our horses. Specifically, for Sky.

Sky is a vital member of our team and we want to give her the absolute best care possible. She is our go to for riders advancing to cantering and riding independently. Help us get this sweet girl the absolute best.

To say we had a crazy Saturday is an understatement!

We started with a flat trailer tire at 7:30am. Then a fixed tire. Then another trailer tire trying to fall off at 8:15am! So we ended up at the Sheetz with 4 horses and only 1 working trailer ๐Ÿ˜ฌ thanks to some amazing student parents, Ava Botterio and Anna Beatty, barn super mom Emelie P. Myers and my mom, we managed to get Marlee back to our barn safely and Lenny, Adeen and Sky to Lake Waccamaw for our show!

Big thank you to Southeastern NC Game Show Circuit for giving us the extra 15 minutes to get our crew ready to ride!

Then we had a medical emergency at the show for one of our barn families but everyone is ok now!

Big thanks to every single person who helped make yesterday happen and for our barn families all hanging in and supporting each other.

To say we were exhausted is an understatement. But all the girls held strong and did their best at the show despite the crazy day!

Multiple PR's yesterday and multiple Champion Ribbons!

A very special recognition for all of the riders that have chosen to work with Lenny the Fish Slayer rather than be concerned about being the fastest. It takes special horse people to put aside the competition and focus on the training. I am extra proud of all of those young riders who see the potential and fun in training little Lenny the Fish Slayer. They had a very successful day yesterday and they all worked as a team to help him be his best self! Bailey, Cora, Haley, Lockleigh, Elizabeth and Amelia, you guys rock!

*not all riders are pictured! Our older kiddos were totally worn out by the end of day and forgot pics ๐Ÿ˜‚*

Introducing our new Public Relations Team! Lenny and Eclipse make the perfect pair for public events. Eclipse is calm and accepting while Lenny is goofy and loving. They did amazing with their jobs this week.

Eclipse went to support Evelyne at her softball game. Then Lenny and Eclipse went to a local assisted living facility for Kentucky Derby Day!

So proud of all of the students who participated in the barrel show this past Saturday!

Maddie and Peyton both set their own PR's!!
Tinley and Emerson brought home the Champion ribbons for their divisions!
Landon trotted!
Adaline went faster than she has ever gone! (Almost bounced straight off her pony and still wanted more speed ๐Ÿ˜‚)
Damien got his very first ribbon!
Avery ran wonderful patterns!
June, Cora and Alani handled the stubborn Lenny and brought home some ribbons!
Tarynn placed 2nd in youth and cantered all of her patterns!
Lenny completed his very first show and cantered too!
Adeen hit her own PR on pole bending and most importantly, she took care of a rider who is new to showing!

The team spirit that I saw this weekend was the absolute best. We are looking forward to our show this upcoming Saturday at Lake Waccamaw!
