To all club members:
Summer is here and hopefully everyone is getting the opportunity to do some shooting and spend some time in the great outdoors while dodging the rain drops.
This is a friendly reminder to all club members; YOU are responsible for policing your own brass and removing any items/trash you bring onto or accumulate on the club’s property.
Steel casings, aluminum casings, live rounds and trash do not go into the buckets designated for brass. For those who don’t know, we take those buckets of brass and bring them to local metal recyclers to sell. In turn, this helps generate funds for the club which goes towards maintenance and improvements for the club’s property as well as keep our membership cost low. If there is anything other than brass casings in those buckets, the club receives much less than we potentially could.
As some of you may have noticed, there is no longer a bucket for shotgun hulls at the pavilion on the 150 yard rifle range. That bucket was removed because members were continually placing empty ammo boxes, food wrappers, cans, bottles, and even trash from their own vehicles into that receptacle.
Out of our 150+ members, there are only a small few that attend our work days and help to maintain the range. Our time is valuable, as is all of yours, and we need our membership’s help in keeping our range functional and beautiful.
Another reminder, the 50 yard range is for rimfire rifles and handguns only. We are finding spent rifle casings, such as .243 and .308 Wi******er on that range with some consistency which can lead one to believe that those cartridges are being fired there. Yes, we are aware that some handguns are chambered in rifle calibers. However, those fi****ms should be discharged at the rifle range only.
Lastly, we encourage everyone to attend our monthly meetings. They are the last Wednesday of the month at 6pm at the clubhouse. There are some potential big changes coming to the club and we need/ want everyone’s input. For example, we are exploring the possibility of extending the main rifle range to 200 yards which would entail other factors to consider.
On that note, we hope to see you all at the next meeting and our clay shoot scheduled for the 27th. Thank you for your attention to these matters.
