Inara's first day of karate she was very shy and afraid. Kori stepped in to help as an older new student herself.

Not only did Inara stay, she eventually brought her dad and brother along for the ride.

Today Kori received her second degree black belt rank, but even better she got to promote the girl she helped all those years ago to black belt.

We are so proud of both of them, but we are more excited that we are building a community that makes each other stronger in life and in Christ.

Today was momentous day. It was the 2nd annual black belt promotion day for The Way Karate. Most of those who promoted last year have spent this year continuing to learn and train. 6 were promoted to 2 and degree black belt, and today 8 were promoted to black belt. Most of them plan to continue growing and teaching.

I know that having a program have so many active black belts is a huge accomplishment, but what is greater is how many of them are learning to draw near to Jesus and teach others to follow him.

Training leaders is so important at The Way Karate, but as I was observing another leader learning their role I saw one mother stole just to take the time to say a happy, "Hi!" to another. In that moment, I saw something stronger than leadership, I saw community, and that makes us stronger in all areas of life.

The sad news is that anxiety and a lack of self-confidence is eroding our family safety. Finding peace in a world of chaos is hard, but God gave us the antidote before the problem existed.

Community.

As Christians we understand that being a part of something that keeps us from feeling alone is a barrier against a world and enemy who constantly makes us feel alone.

The first community each of us has is our family, so how do we bring calm, confident connection to our homes? We learn to create order by the power of the Holy Spirit and practice.

Our Summer Peace of Mind Nights are more than self-defense tactics, they are a chance for your family to grow closer together and find more confidence to face a world in chaos.
