High-Impact Leadership Series!

This free 3-day Zoom Webinar is designed to help you develop your leadership skills and make you a more impactful leader!

Here is a breakdown of the days:

Day 1: Leadership Best Practices. On the first day, we look at four essential areas of leadership and strategies to help you excel in each of them.

Day 2: Build a Thriving Culture. This session focuses on building a culture that is safe, supportive, purpose-driven, engaged, and high-performing.

Day 3: Maximize Your Retention. The final day focuses on nine strategies to increase your retention. Then how to implement these to create an environment that people want to be a part of.

All of the sessions are designed to be thought-provoking, interactive, and actionable. You will walk away with tools to help you be a better leader, ideas for improving your culture, and strategies to improve retention.

The workshop is from March 21-23 and will be at 1 PM EST each day. Registered participants will receive a recording for all of the sessions. Even if you aren’t able to make it on a certain day, you will still get the recording.

I decided to focus on culture and leadership because I have seen its impact on people's performance and well-being. I recently took a vacation to Sivananda Ashram Yoga Retreat in the Bahamas. A few years before the pandemic, I had been taking yearly yoga vacations. I find these to be a great way to relax, connect with others, and take care of my health. This vacation was the first one since the pandemic started and was something that I have been looking forward to!

The trip didn’t disappoint and was a great experience for me. It was a combination of yoga, meditation, satsungs (chanting and lectures), walks, journaling, and swimming in the ocean. Here are the main lessons that I took away from it.

*The importance that taking time off has for both your mood and mental clarity. I can notice a significant difference in both.

*More compassion and less judgment. I found myself negatively judging a few people and then when I got to know them they were wonderful people.

*You create your own life. Design it in a way where you get to do the activities you want, go to the places you want, and be with the people that you want.

*Keep the purpose of your trip/event/project in mind and make your schedule to that. Mine was to relax, recharge, and reconnect. It wasn’t to take workshops or do a lot of activities.

*Death can be a great motivator for people as we don’t know when our end date is. Also, be willing to talk about death with others.

*The quality of your breath determines the quality of your life. One of the yoga teachers said this and I loved it.

*Listen to your body.

*In order to connect with someone, you need to get out of your own head.

*The keys to happiness are service and growth.

*Be a master at controlling your state. This may require you to relax and get centered or increase your energy.

Exciting news!!!

I am offering a free 30-minute coaching call. This is a great way for you to focus on a specific area that you are struggling with or want to improve. You will walk away with a concrete plan and action steps that you can use to make meaningful changes.

The type of coaching that I do is High Performance Coaching. This is geared towards helping people achieve their goals and transform their mindset, habits, and productivity. The coaching is personalized and will help you gain clarity and then focus on what is most important in your life right now.

6 Ways to get into a Flow State at Work 

A flow state is when you are at peak performance. During this time you can focus, are creative, efficient, and thoughtful. People often think about being in flow in sports, when you are in the zone. You can get into this same state in your professional life as well. 

So how do you get into this flow state??

Here are six ways:

*Get grounded - take a minute to close your eyes and focus on your breath. You can breathe naturally or do a breathing technique. This allows you to get calm, centered, and present.

*Focus on one task at a time

*Eliminate Distractions

*Get up and take breaks - Every 30-45 minutes get up and move for a few minutes.

*Get enough sleep at night 

*Visualize yourself at your best. Make this a part of your daily routine. 

It is the application of these strategies that will make all the difference. As you start to incorporate these you will notice yourself getting into peak performance more often and for longer periods of time.

How do we prevent burnout??

Oftentimes, it is knowing when to pause. There are going to be times when you are going full speed in your life with your work and home responsibilities.

At some point when doing this you will start to feel mentally and physically worn down and your productivity will start to decrease. You may also feel some discomfort in a certain part of your body such as pressure in your stomach, head, or chest.

When you start to notice this it is essential that you listen to your body! It is trying to tell you that you need a break.

I noticed this last week as a result of moving and launching a new program. I decided that I just needed a break and enjoyed some time at the pool.

When you notice this yourself make sure to take some time to look after your needs. For you this may be taking a day off, going to a movie, going for a hike, or anything else that helps you get reentered and recharge. This will not only help your mental health but will also increase your work performance.

Closing the Performance Gap

The performance gap is the difference between what you know you need/want to be doing and what you are actually doing. The goal is to make this gap as small as possible. 

Brendon Burchard said, "Common sense isn't always common practice." Just because you know that doing a certain thing is beneficial doesn't mean you will actually do it. 

So how do you close this gap??

✨First thing is to analyze your current situation and to see where the gap is.

✨Then look at why you are currently not doing and the reason that you want to start. Oftentimes, you need to make a mindset shift in how you are thinking about it. 

✨Next is to develop positive habits around what will be most beneficial to you. For these smart small to gain momentum, plan for any pitfalls and reward yourself for being successful. 

**You don't need to be perfect and this is never the goal. It is not about what you should be doing but rather about what you want to do to increase your happiness, relationships, work performance, etc. So as you are working to close this gap it is essential to accept where you are currently at and to show yourself self-love.

Two things come to mind when I think of the quote: “People buy into the leader before they buy into the vision” by John Maxwell.

The first is that leaders need to take time to develop meaningful relationships. It’s not about getting the people to like you but rather to respect and trust you. When people know that you have their back, you genuinely care for them and you are a person of integrity then they will gladly buy into you as a leader.

The second is that you need to be a competent and have leadership skills. I firmly believe that leaders are made and not born. If you look at some of the great leaders of all time, many of them weren’t natural leaders. They worked hard and developed the knowledge and skills to become transformational leaders. This is about doing the internal work. You develop as a leader through both knowledge and practice.

So remember if you want to have people buy into your vision then make sure you have taken the time to build relationships and have done the work to develop your own leadership skills.

How do you view change?

Change can be a scary thing or it can be exciting! Oftentimes it is a combination of both.

How we view it though makes all the difference in our lives.

The one constant in this world is change! Everything from our bodies to our environment to our circumstances are constantly changing.

For me I’ve learned to embrace this change over the years. Yesterday, I just moved to Wilmington, NC. Moving to a new city where I only know one person can be a scary thing! It can also be really exciting in that I get to meet new people, try new places, experience a new culture and create the next chapter in my life!

It all comes down to your mindset. What is your perspective on the situation? What is your attitude? What are your moment to moment thoughts? What do you believe will happen?

I encourage you to constantly be working on having the best mindset for you. If you are looking for assistance in this area then reach out to me. A cornerstone of my coaching program, High Performance Accelerator, is on developing your mindset.
