Excuses are the easiest thing to find. Can you find an excuse to be Great?

The pic below is from a youth in our prevention program that is also a boxer. Everyday he is putting in miles of roadwork, and working hard in the gym. I was vaccuming the gym last night, and looked at his sneakers sitting on the floor, and asked why there was duct tape around them. He answered that his sneakers were falling apart.
The reason why I am making this post is that If I never noticed and asked, I would've never known because he didn't complain about it, he never said he couldn't run because he didn't have a pair of proper sneakers, he never made an excuse not to work hard to achieve his goals, but instead found an excuse to work harder.
