The final races of the 2024 San Francisco Region SCCA took place this past weekend at Thunderhill Raceway and SCCA Spec Mustang had another great turn out with (8) eight drivers present!
Drivers Michael Smith, Tony Bonino, Roger Eagleton, Mike Lowe, Matt Lituchy, Adam Enticknap, Dan Cullinane and Michael Cheney began the weekend ready to do battle in their trusty Mustang’s.
As a reminder, one of the unique features of the is the ability for it’s drivers to race in multiple race classes each weekend, thereby making the most of their time at the track and providing each driver with twice the track time of other classes. For most drivers, this extra track time leads to a much faster driver development curve and an increased confidence behind the wheel of the race car.
The two classes that the cars are eligible for are:
- GROUP 5- SMG (Spec Mustang)
- GRP 3- AS (American Sedan)
After a tight championship battle all year long that saw multiple drivers in the lead for both classes, it all came down to the final “double points” races of the weekend, which were won by DIG Motorsports driver Roger Eagleton, thereby locking up the 2024 SMG and AS class championships 👏
