Dr. Brian Cole is team physician for the Chicago Bulls and the Joffrey Ballet, and co-team physician for the Chicago White Sox. He has published more than a thousand articles and twenty textbooks, he heads the Cartilage Research and Restoration Center at Rush, and in 2025 he won the OREF Clinical Research Award, one of the biggest prizes in orthopedics.

He also trademarked the phrase "spare the scalpel," and no more than one in five people who walk into his office will ever be operated on.
