Congratulations to our Baja seniors. You will be missed next year. Good luck in your future endeavors! Name: Eric Howell
Hometown: Shadyside, Ohio
Plans/employment after college: Timken Steel-Canton, Ohio
What inspired you choose to to pursue an ME degree: My passion for problem solving, building, working on mechanical systems
Favorite Baja memory: getting to pass my knowledge to underclassman about the car. Also finishing 14th in maneuverability at Tennessee
Final words to the current students: get and stay involved with the club. It can open many doors of opportunity. You get to make new friends that can last a lifetime as well as the chance to build a car!
Name: Ryan Spiker
Home town: Syracuse, NY
Plans/employment after college: Manufacturing Engineer @ MAC Trailer
What inspired you to pursue an ME degree: The ability to help improve individuals lives through the design and implementation of new engineered technologies
Favorite Baja memory: tying our best overall score my senior year as well best endurance and maneuverability finish as a team
Final words to the Current Students: Remember Baja is 50% of what you designed to work all year and then 50% of what you can to to make it work when what you planned fails.

Name: Chandler Lameier
Home town: Centerville, Ohio
Plans/employment after college: Automation in Washington DC
What inspired you to pursue an ME degree: Grew up fascinated with consistently trying to understand how a mechanism operates in a synchronous fashion to complete a function. Obtaining an ME degree was necessary for continuing this passion in industry.
Favorite Baja Memory: Late night shenanigans and medieval music motivating the team throughout the night as the team rushed to finish the car leading all the way up to the time we had to leave for competition.
Final words words to the current students: When you want to know how some things really work, study them as they’re coming apart. @ University of Mount Union

With the final results being in we finished 29th Overall at Tennessee Tech which is the best we’ve placed since 2014! With a few minor tweaks and adjustments to be made along with more testing we will be back at it again at Rochester in June! We would like to thank all our sponsors who made this possible and their commitment to our success! Without them the strides we are making as a team would not be possible! @ Tennessee Tech University / Hyder-Burks Agricultural Pavilion

Happy Sunday Raiders!! Cookeville, Tennessee was a total success!! Final scores are in:
97 schools showed up to compete in the 2019 SAE Baja Competition.
Maneuverability(Aj Costanzo) :14th
Acceleration (Ryan Spiker): 61st
Endurance (Aj Costanzo and Eric Howell): tied for 18th
Sales presentation(Starr Klenotic and Noah Kee): tied for 30th

That has been our 2nd time ever being in the top 20 in Endurance and 1st time being in the top 20 for maneuverability!! Baja has been an established program at Mount Union since 2013-2014. I have to say Mount Union’s Engineering Baja program has grown exponentially with no signs of slowing down! If anyone is looking to join, it is open to all majors! Or if you are a Marketing/Finance Major looking for experience and a great organization to join contact or for details!

Update: We passed Tech Inspection and Brake check with flying colors! Only 46/96 teams passed inspection today. After getting a chance to talk to more teams, it has been discovered that we are not only the smallest team, but our team is the most diverse with class years! Most of the teams at Competition this year are composed of mostly Senior engineers! Tomorrow, we’re looking forward to the dynamic events which will include maneuverability (Aj Costanzo), suspension(Ryan Spiker) course, and sled pull (Eric Howell)!
