My sweet friend made this charm for me. At first I wasn’t sure what it was, and she told me it’s a dragon because I’m a dragon slayer 😂♥️. I seem to find the horses, or they find me, who need someone to re-establish their confidence, trust in themselves and their partners, and that the world isn’t going to eat them. My personal horses have their fair share of quirks and idiosyncrasies, that continue to challenge me. I think I am good at helping other horses be the best they can be because mine continue to show me how to be patient and persist thru the hard times. ❤️

Here is “Dublin” a five year old Connemara/TB gelding jumping his first jumps today!
He came in me just over 30 days ago after mostly sitting his 4 yr old year. Last Saturday he had his first the property experience that was a schooling show!
While green he is super smart and teachable. Get him now before we do more things and his sticker value changes 🤩

Yesterday was full of firsts at Dara Knot Farm! I rode three in their first dressage tests, one in his first test with a canter and a student nailed her first canter test as well!! 😍🙌🏻🤩

🌟 Squirrel may have gone home two weeks ago but he is still the bestest baby in the land! First time at the farm, soft, steady and reliable in the ring! He makes his mama and I so proud 🤩

🌟 Next up was Moon who while he is 10 yrs old, did his first schooling show as well laying down a very respectable score and being so businesslike in the sandbox!

🌟Dublin was really put to the test as this was not only his first show, but his first time off property and he has only been under saddle for two weeks!! This Connemara/TB cross has the potential to really make someone a super partner! #

🌟Last but certainly not least was Gretchen, a lovely Connemara/Hanoverian mare who while small in size has a huge step and superb brain that will grab anyone’s attention! She was so stalwart as she has been out of work and still laid down a very respectable test for her first show as well!!

Many thanks to everyone at the show for putting on a great day and helping!!

🐴 The $300 Horse Boarding Problem

If you own a horse, this post might make you uncomfortable — but it needs to be said.

As someone who has spent years feeding horses before sunrise and cleaning stalls long after dark, I’ve watched this pattern happen over and over again.

You see the ads everywhere.

“Full care board – $300/month.”
Hay 24/7. Grain included. All the amenities.

And you wonder…

How are they doing it so cheap?

Because the truth is — horses aren’t cheap to care for.

Even if someone grows their own hay there are still costs:
fuel, equipment, repairs, labor, land, and time.

So when board is that cheap, something usually gets cut.

Maybe it’s feed.
Maybe it’s stall cleaning.
Maybe turnout quietly disappears.
Maybe water buckets only get filled once a day.

It doesn’t happen overnight.

It happens slowly… until one day someone sees your horse and says:

“Wow… he looks thin.”

You go home, look at old photos, and realize they’re right.

So you move your horse to a higher-end barn.

Now board is $700… $800… sometimes $1,000+ a month.

Your horse looks great again — but now you’re working so many hours just to afford it that you barely get to see them.

And that’s when people start leaving the horse world completely.

But there’s a third option that often gets overlooked.

Small private barns.

Not the mega barns.

Not the ultra-cheap barns.

The quiet, middle-of-the-road places where the owner does the work themselves because they can’t afford employees.

The places where your horse isn’t just a stall number.

Where feed is adjusted individually.
Where someone notices if your horse doesn’t finish dinner.
Where care is personal because the barn is small enough to truly manage.

These barns often sit half empty because they’re not flashy and they’re not the cheapest.

But many of them offer the best balance of care, affordability, and peace of mind in the horse world.

Sometimes the best place for your horse isn’t the cheapest or the fanciest.

Sometimes it’s the place where you can walk out to the pasture after a long day, breathe, and simply watch your horse be a horse.

❤️

And if you’re lucky enough to find one of those small barns that truly cares, hold onto it.

Those places are usually run by people who love horses more than profit, who do the work themselves every day, and who treat every horse like part of their own herd.

Small barns are the heart of the horse world.

Now I’m curious…

Horse owners — what matters most to you in a boarding barn?

• Price
• Quality of care
• Amenities
• Quiet environment

And barn owners — what do you think is the biggest challenge in horse boarding today?

👇 Let’s talk about it.

I grew up in a very competitive family, where quitting was not an option. Being raised to never give up and wanted to succeed can be a double edged sword within the horse industry. Horses are not linear, in fact, they give the biggest highs and the ultimate lows. This weekend I had both….

My and Finn’s quest for obtaining the infamous FOD (finish on your dressage score) was off to a great start. I was beyond proud of our test, as it was the most cohesive it has been in quite some time. Then we nailed our show jumping round with a double clear ♥️.
I seriously thought about not running cross country today at Stable View bc I was so over the moon with how Saturday went.
Lately Finn just hasn’t quite seemed himself, and started (only twice before today) doing a different move if a jump didn’t suit him. Fence 10 was a skinny MIM Table which for reasons no one can sort out currently, he slid to a stop (very literally) to it. I retired. I knew if I circled back he would’ve jumped it perfectly. I also knew that something hasn’t been right so we called it a day.
I love my pony beyond what words can express. We have grown and learned so much together! I don’t know what the future holds for us, but his health and happiness is what is most important.

In the mean time you’ll be hearing more about the others and less about Finn until I sort out our future ♥️

PS I can’t thank everyone who came out to support us this wknd!!!! I am soo lucky to have the people I have supporting me 🙌🏻🙌🏻♥️♥️
