I created a product that changes lives.
Today I had the pleasure of speaking with someone who is just as excited about what I built as I am.
That, is the definition of success to me.
This is one of the reasons I get out of bed everyday.
To positively impact the lives of others.
To create a shift in someone else's life that propels them forward to their own happiness.
This got me to reflecting on my "why".
The sometimes elusive "thing" that we are all supposed to have figured out - our big mission, values, all the STUFF rolled up into one simple statement that is our driving force.
I have really struggled with this over the years.
I've felt like I needed some big, life-altering, world-saving, climate-controlling, clean the oceans BIG thing that was also completely SELFLESS.
The truth is, it has to be a bit selfish, or you won't be excited to do it.
The selfish part is the FEELING you get by doing what drives you forward.
Your why can be completely about how you feel, it can be about how you make others feel, it can be whatever the hell you want it to be.
Because it's your why, no one else's.
And you don't even have to share it.
Mine used to be materialistic when I was younger.
Over time it's evolved to the impact I am able to bring to others.
Today, that impact is helping a father to push his "push chair", aka stroller, with his baby.
To give his child the experiences he wants to share.
To give his wife a break.
He doesn't have arms; he has one natural leg and one prosthetic.
He has no other option than the product I created.
THAT, my friends, is the most humbling impact I can imagine.
I am grateful that something drove me to make this.
I made it for running, but I don't get to choose how the rest of the world wants to use it.
What's your why?
What makes you feel like the best version of yourself?
What makes you proud?
