Williamstown Tennis Coaching Update:
On April 13th, allegations of misconduct and a complaint were filed about me by a former Tennis player and his parents, and a complaint was filed with the Wood County Schools, accusing me of frivolous accusations. However, what was most egregious was that I contacted a University about a previous Williamstown Tennis player, asking that I withdraw a tennis scholarship to the University, which is unethical and unbecoming of a coach. This allegation was the primary basis for the Wood County Schools to release me as a coach. Knowing that the allegations were untrue, I asked representatives from the WCS if "they contacted the University's coaches and university administration about the allegations." There response went unanswered.
After meeting with Wood County Schools, I immediately sought legal representation from two of my lawyers, one in Charleston and one in Parkersburg, to seek advice on clearing my name of these allegations, knowing that they were unfounded and never investigated by Wood County Schools or the school administration. I also retained representation because, after my departure, I, as well as my family, were defamed in the public eye and social media. Not to mention, I received personal threats of violence, hate speech, and severe attacks affecting my personal and financial future.
A few weeks later, letters went out to Wood County Board representatives requesting that they open an investigation into the unfounded allegations. On May 29th, I received a response from Wood County Schools: "We received information that the letter given to you earlier contained information that was not accurate. In reviewing our documentation, there were concerns from a player regarding being part of the F(omitted) S(omitted) Tennis program, and that there was NOT a mention of a scholarship. We deeply apologize for the error." Meaning that there was NO Tennis Scholarship, the allegations of pulling a scholarship or coverup that I was accused of, and the primary basis of my release as a coach.
While I appreciate Wood County Schools for acknowledging the error of providing false information about a tennis scholarship, the fact remains that they jumped to a conclusion about a student and the parent's complaints without investigating the facts before passing judgment. Although, there were no additional answers to the remaining allegations, as I requested. Given the acknowledged uncertainty, the remaining allegations do not carry the weight of truth.
Moving forward, I will put closure to my successful career as a Tennis Coach at Williamstown High School. It has been a great run, as I look forward to the next level of coaching in the future.
One final note: for those who still hide under social media accounts, defaming with slanderous attacks against myself and my family, heed this warning. All social media comments have been and will be documented and complied with for future legal action.
