Lycoming Composite Mountain Biking

Lycoming Composite Mountain Biking Youth Mountain Bike team based in Lycoming County, PA for kids in 6-12th grade.

Part of the Pennsylvania Interscholastic Cycling League (PICL) and National Interscholastic Cycling Association (NICA). The Lycoming County Composite mountain bike team (LycoMTB) is made up of middle school and high school students throughout Lycoming County. Our club is based out of Williamsport and Hughesville, where we hold our weekly practices. We compete in the Pennsylvania Interscholastic Cycling League (PICL) race series. PICL is one of 33 state leagues across 30 states that are under the national umbrella of NICA, the National Interscholastic Cycling Association. We were one of 23 teams from across Pennsylvania to take part in the league’s inaugural season in 2016, which has grown to ~70 teams in 2025! Goals

• To give all levels of riders an understanding of the sport of mountain biking.
• To compete at a high level in the PICL Race Series, and finish the season in the top 10 in
the Team Series Points.
• To have fun and spread our love of the sport.

- Wear a team jersey if you have one. New riders without a team jersey may wear any biking attire.
- Bring plenty of water & trail snacks to keep with you. This is a multi-hour adventure riding event.

Lycoming MTB alum Noah Scholnick is in Val Di Sole, Italy riding for Team USA in the 2026 UCI Mountain Bike World Championships! He’ll be wearing the Stars & Stripes, coming off fresh wins as the current XCO and XCC National Champion (Junior Men’s 17-18).

Remember that part of great trail stewardship is respecting the Dirt. Don’t ride trails when it wet or muddy.

Riding muddy trails creates deep ruts, speeds up erosion, and ruins the single track for everyone. Leave no trace, protect the dirt, and give the trails a chance to dry ⛈️

🌧️ Practice Cancelled Tonight 🌧️

Hey Lycoming MTB families! With the rain coming down, we’re calling off practice tonight. A few reasons for this:

🚵 Rider safety – wet trails mean less traction and more risk, especially for our newer riders
🌱 Protecting our trails – riding when it’s this wet causes erosion and long-term damage to the trails we all love

We know it’s a bummer, but taking care of our riders and our trails now means more great riding for years to come!

See everyone back out there for our regularly scheduled practice this Thursday. Stay dry! 🚵‍♀️🚵‍♂️
