DINOSAUR WRISTS 🦖
If you’re looking to build upper body strength and postural awareness, be aware of your wrists.

If you are *unintentionally* flexing your wrists during your sessions into dinosaur arms, you might be losing a lot of power!

The cue “lengthen your wrists” is for helping protect + strengthen the muscles around the wrist joint (+ up the chain at the elbow + shoulder.)

And muscles are where our power lives!

It’s easy to overlook, but essential to building a stronger practice - especially if you experience neck and shoulder pain, and have trouble with weight bearing exercises.

YOUR TURN:
Next time you hop into the Studio notice if you are *unintentionally* flexing at the wrist, and dumping into the joint.

When you lengthen them, what differences do you notice? (PRO TIP: We didn’t say “lock” your wrists 😅)

In this session, we are also trying to build her hip joint strength and neutral pelvis - other places hyper mobility likes to “hang out.”

Happy anniversary to this experience that sparked the idea-turned-reality of hosting a Pilates retreat in the Azores!

My friends!
Memorial Day weekend 2024, I followed my husband to The Azores on a life changing bike trip that felt like a coming home - a giant joyful sigh- filled with wildness and space and laughter and rest.

And it was there, away from my usual demands - amongst the waterfalls and misty cliffs, and poolside chats and cheese boards that I started to sit with the idea of hosting a retreat - the opportunity to say, “Thank you world, for this miraculous place and this opportunity to explore you. And thank you body for sustaining me!”

Fast forward to 2025 and I went on my very first retreat and again, sat with this life changing experience (New friends! Food! Unbelievable Travel! Pilates!) thinking “GOODNESS this is so necessary. How can I bring this to others?”

So friends… it’s here.

Teaching Tip: The Double Leg Stretch 🙌

Heels to t**h, y’all!

Maximize your effort during this challenging exercise with this small detail 💪

Attempting to fully pull your knees + heels to t**h:
✨ helps mobilize the hips and knees - we love some good range of motion!
✨sets you up for success by preparing you to create similar shapes in future exercises throughout the system
✨ prevents hip flexor + quad overuse - this tip is ESPECIALLY important if your hips click during ab work!
✨teaches you to work from the strength of your powerhouse (deep abs and pelvis!)
