Throughout owner Heather's life, fitness has been a guiding companion, adapting alongside her through various life stages. Stemming from the days of competitive swimming in her childhood fitness has remained important. Even after transitioning from competitive swimming to exploring d

ifferent workouts like running in her mid-20s, the importance of maintaining a healthy lifestyle continued to shape her daily routine. As Heather shifted from swimming to gym classes and later embraced running through triathlons, it became apparent that her knees were not as resilient as they once were. Despite her passion for running, arthritis her knees prompted her to reassess her fitness journey. Returning to the gym, she found herself searching for a workout that resonated with her, like the joy she experienced in swimming and running. Along came the joys of motherhood that made it more difficult to find time for selfcare, however, Heather found herself needing fitness in her life more than ever before. Also, she no longer had as much time for selfcare that she so desperately needed and longed for. The turning point was when her sister shared her positive experience with reformer Pilates. Intrigued, despite limited local options, Heather sought out a Pilates studio. After just one introductory class, she was hooked! Not only did it provide a full-body workout blending strength training, cardio, and stretching seamlessly, but it also allowed exercise without discomfort in her knees. Five years into her Pilates journey, a move presented a challenge. With only one Pilates studio within a reasonable distance and scheduling conflicts, Heather faced a dilemma and needed to figure out a way to keep Pilates in her life. Determined to continue her transformative practice, Heather chose to invest in her own reformer and pursue certification. Thus, The Shed Studio was born—a place designed for busy women, seeking a place to prioritize their mental and physical well-being. The Shed Studio isn't merely about delivering a workout; it's a supportive space for those who, like Heather, have encountered fitness limitations or struggled to find a workout they genuinely enjoy. Beyond physical transformation, The Shed Studio places a strong emphasis on aligning mindset with fitness goals, understanding that a positive mental foundation is crucial for overall well-being.

This post is a little personal (and long), but I feel like I need to share it with my Shed family. ❤️

Earlier this year, I was diagnosed with cancer. And yesterday got the words I never knew I would want to hear so badly…

100% clear PET scan. CANCER FREE. ❤️🙏🏻

I still have a few treatments to finish, but this girl has a lot to do… so I better get busy doing it! 💪🏻

My apologies if this is the first you are learning about my diagnosis. I shared but not as openly as posting about it.

This journey has changed me. I’m still figuring out all the ways it has, but I know one thing for sure—it has made me realize just how precious this life really is.

I’ve never felt closer to God. He was right there in the trenches with me. And looking back, there were so many little God winks along the way. Answered prayers. The right person showing up at the right time. A card, a meal, a hug, a text or a little bit of encouragement on the exact day I needed it.

And it reinforced something I have always believed, but maybe understand even more now:

We don’t invest in ourselves because it guarantees nothing hard will ever happen. We invest in ourselves so we are stronger and better equipped when it does.

Physically. Mentally. Spiritually.

We keep showing up.

And that brings me to my Shed clients. ❤️

I don’t even know if I can fully put into words what you did for me during these past several months.

You checked in on me. You prayed for me. You sent cards, flowers, meals, recipes, thoughtful messages and encouragement. You gave me hugs. You remembered treatment days. You asked how I was really doing. You gave me grace when I needed to step away, and you welcomed me back with so much love.

Some of you reached out on days when I really needed it, without even knowing it.

You didn’t just tell me you cared.

You showed me.

And I will never forget that.

There were days when I may have thought I was the one who was supposed to be encouraging you to keep showing up for yourselves, but through this experience, you showed up for me.

That means more than I could ever say.

The Shed Studio may have started as a place for movement, but you have made it something so much bigger.

You have made it a community.
A place of support.
A place where people genuinely care about one another.

And I feel incredibly blessed to be part of it.

This experience has reminded me that The Shed has always been about so much more than a workout.

It’s about taking care of ourselves.
Showing up—even imperfectly.
Giving ourselves grace.
Supporting one another.
And learning to pause long enough to actually enjoy the life happening right in front of us.

That word pause has become pretty important to me.

Pause. Look around. Be grateful. Soak it in.

Because there is so much good we miss when we are always rushing to the next thing.

So today, I’m celebrating. I’m grateful. I’m humbled. And I’m really, really excited about what comes next.

Cancer free. God is good. And this girl has a lot of living to do. 🙏🏻❤️

And I have a feeling this next chapter is going to bring some pretty special things to The Shed Studio, too. ❤️

This experience has given me an even bigger vision for what The Shed can be, how we can support one another, and the people we can serve.

New things are coming. And I truly believe the best is yet to come.

So maybe my reminder to you today is simple:

Don’t wait for the wake-up call.

Take care of yourself now.
Move your body.
Pause.
Breathe.
Be present.
Give yourself grace.
Invest in YOU.create

Life is way too precious not to. ❤️

Sometimes making a difference does not require going far—it may be sitting right in front of us.

This morning, in my pajamas with coffee, breakfast, and my idea notebook, I was reminded:

“Do the work that is nearest to you; it may lead to far-reaching results.”

The next meaningful step may be in your home, your community, your business, or in simply showing up for the person right beside you. Small actions done with care can reach farther than we may ever see. 🤍

**Best Day Ever.** ☕️

What if we treated each day like the gift it truly is?

It does not have to be perfect to be meaningful. A little movement, gratitude, grace, and choosing to show up can make today the best day ever. 🤍

What a beautiful way to start the day. 🌸☕️

This morning, I had the chance to be a guest at Edn Farm’s Morning Cuts & Coffee—a weekly opportunity for members to visit the farm, cut their own bouquet, enjoy a cup of coffee, and connect with others.

It was the perfect morning to slow down, take in Mother Nature’s beauty, and appreciate the simple joy of fresh flowers and good company.

Thank you, Edn Farm, for welcoming me and letting me experience your beautiful farm. I left with a grateful heart and a gorgeous bouquet. 💐

This birthday felt extra special. 🤍

A small dinner in the garden, people I love, good food, pretty flowers, and a whole lot of gratitude.

This year has reminded me that we all have our hard. Every single one of us is carrying something, walking through something, or just trying to figure out how to keep showing up.

And honestly, that is what I keep coming back to — just keep showing up.

Not perfectly. Not all put together. Not always with motivation or a great attitude. Sometimes gratitude is simply noticing the little things right in front of you — the flowers, the sunshine, the people at your table, the strength to get through the day, or the chance to try again tomorrow.

That is also the heart behind The Shed Studio.

Movement is not about being perfect. It is about showing up for yourself in whatever season you are in. Strong days, tired days, emotional days, busy days — they all count.

So this birthday, I am feeling extra thankful for the little blessings, the people who love me well, and another year to keep showing up with grace and gratitude. 🤍

We finally tried the Drive-In Movie Theater in McHenry last night, and it was such a fun family night! 🎬🚗✨

Tuesday happened to be their **$15 carload night special**, which made it even better. We brought our own food, but they also had so many great options available — popcorn, candy, pizza, and all the classic movie snacks.

The kids had room to run around and play in the grassy areas before the movie started, and bonus points for clean bathrooms! 🙌

We had an absolute blast and will definitely be back. If you’re looking for a fun, easy summer night with the family, I highly recommend giving this place a try! 🍿

Happy 4th of July from The Shed Studio ❤️🤍💙

Today feels like the perfect reminder to pause and really look around with grateful hearts.

The 4th of July is not just about fireworks, flags, cookouts, and time with people we love. It is also a reminder of the freedom, safety, opportunity, community, and everyday blessings we are so lucky to have.

And after the storms that came through Walworth County yesterday, that gratitude feels even more real.

Sometimes it takes the wind, rain, and unexpected mess to remind us how much we take for granted — a safe home, helping neighbors, electricity, clear skies, strong roots, and the gift of another day.

So today, may we celebrate with thankful hearts.

Grateful for freedom.
Grateful for community.
Grateful for the ability to move, rest, rebuild, and keep showing up.

Wishing you and your family a safe, peaceful, and joy-filled 4th of July.

Freedom to move. Grace to rest. Strength to keep showing up. ❤️

Look what arrived!!!!! How did their marketing team know that I would find myself doing a little happy dance while opening up this package?

Since going vegan the one thing I have missed on occasion has been CHEESE!!!! Looking forward to having these as an option on my charcuterie board this weekend.

I will report back on how they went over and if they hit the mark as a cheese substitute. Has anyone else tried Rebel cheese?
