Congrats to our Boy's Basketball squads on their victories Friday! With the wins the JV team stays undefeated in the conference while the Varsity team remains in a tie for 1st in the conference. Next up for the Eagles are two MVAC games at East Wilkes and West Wilkes this week.

It's Champ Week for Eagle Athletics! Indoor Track, Swimming and Wrestling will all compete for MVAC titles while Eagle Basketball has 2 pivotal road contests.

Monday:
5:00 - Indoor Track MVAC Championship at JDL

Tuesday:
5:00 - Home Wrestling vs East Wilkes (senior night)
5:00 - Away Basketball at East Wilkes (JV Boys followed by Varsity games)

Friday:
4:00 - Away Basketball at West Wilkes (Freshman Boys followed by JV and Varsity)
4:00 - Swimming MVAC Championship

Saturday:
9:00 - Wrestling MVAC Tournament

Thank you to everyone who came out and supported and volunteered their time to make the 2026 Eagle Invitational a success this past weekend! The Eagles had several champions and placers to note:

A select few indoor track athletes made a weekend trip to JDL Fasttrack to compete in the Just Don't Lose Classic. Season bests and indoor records is all the team saw as each individual performed at a high level. Headlined by Morgan Woodard's new NC Freshman #1 mark the distance runners continued to make noise. Woodard and Ava Grace Redies now own the indoor record marks for the 3200 while Rachel Brummer set a new season best.
The 4x400 relay teams had their best showings of the season as the ladies team broke the previous indoor record by 12 seconds! Seniors Harper Anderson (1:05 split) and Mikayla Taylor (1:04 split) led the way. The men's team set a new season best with a strong 55 split from Braxton Gebauer.
January 19th the eagles will compete for the MVAC Conference Championship.

Wilkes Central Wrestling will host the 2026 Eagle Invitational this coming Saturday, Jan. 10 in both the New and Main Gyms. Admission to the event will be $10. NCHSAA passes will be the only passes accepted. Weigh-ins begin at 7am with wrestling scheduled to begin around 9am. Make plans to come out and support the Eagle Wrestling Program!

Back like they never left the Indoor Track Team broke several records yesterday at the Firebird Invitational in Winston Salem. In their last meet before the MVAC championships the Eagles made a statement. Harper Anderson, Mckenna Brock, and Ava Redies showed their leadership as returners in some new season and personal bests. Kate Bivens stole the show with personal bests in every jump event and a big school record in the high jump. David Bonner continued to solidify himself as the greatest indoor sprinter in Wilkes Central track history. Morgan Woodard in distance and Jacob Shew in shotput were able to help finish off a great day for the Eagles.

Both the JV and Varsity Boys moved to 3-0 in the MVAC with wins over Elkin last night! Next up for Eagle Basketball is another home conference matchup vs Ashe County this Friday, Jan. 9. Action begins at The Nest at 4:00pm with the Freshman Boys.
