Pictured is the CAT 1 field lining up at the Klaus Park Klash XC race today, held by the SEMO Mudcats Mountain Biking Team. Two former Vipers are front and center: Connor Robinson racing for Wheels Up XCG, and Brody Melton racing for South Side XC . Brody’s senior season with us was 2022, when he was instrumental in the Eureka HS and JR Wildcats MTB team winning the Missouri Interscholastic Cycling League D2 season series. That year, Connor was still in middle school, and just getting started with The Vipers. Fast forward to 2026, Connor is entering his senior season, and will be the cornerstone of the Marquette Mustang Mountain Bike Team’s success this fall. These two former teammates are still riding bikes, racing at a high level, and making their former coaches and teammates proud. 😎

On November 9th, the National Interscholastic Cycling Association held its first ever Central Regionals event, with athletes from 11 state leagues participating. 10 former Vipers headed down to Fayetteville, AR, to compete on the course at Centennial Park, representing all four Rockwood School District high schools, MICDS, and two Parkway Schools high schools. It was an honor and a privilege to have coached these young men and women over the previous five seasons with Rockwood Composite, and to see them branch off to their community teams for 2025, rising to compete at the regional level. What a fitting way to see the end of an era, with Jonathan, one of our original 2020 Vipers, riding with his former teammates in Arkansas for the last race of his NICA career!

Shout outs to our athletes from Eureka HS and JR Wildcats MTB (Jonathan Y.), Rockwood Summit Mountain Bike Team (Jamison H.), Marquette Mustang Mountain Bike Team (Connor R. and Cole R.), Lafayette Lancers MTB Team (Josiah B.), MICDS MTB (Kolce M.), and Parkway Composite MTB - Parkway West HS (Aurora “Rori” L., Landon A., and James S.) and Parkway South HS (Noah M.).
