Coach Bugbee, it’s hard to put into words the impact you’ve had on my life. From the very first time I visited campus back in 2007, you made an unforgettable impression. The weather was perfect, and as we walked around, students and faculty greeted you with excitement like you were the president. Your love for Springfield College is clear in everything you do. As a player, you held me to a higher standard, which made me work harder so that I could exceed your expectations. When you invited me to return as a coach, I was beyond excited. I couldn’t think of anything better than staying at my alma mater and coaching alongside you. Some of my best coaching memories are from those moments, working by your side. You encouraged me to give college coaching a try, and that led me to discover a passion I didn’t expect, which I enjoyed for six years. You’ve always gone out of your way to help me, from offering guidance in my job search to opening doors for interviews. You’ve played a huge role in getting me to where I am today, as a physical educator in the Wilbraham school district, and in shaping the coach I’ve become. I truly can’t thank you enough.
The “Bugbee Family Pavilion” will be a lasting tribute to your dedication, leadership, and the strong foundation you’ve built for Springfield Lacrosse. Every time someone enters that space, they’ll be reminded of the passion you brought to the program and the care you showed to every player and teammate you called “family.”
Best of luck in your 42nd and final season on Stagg Field! Enjoy retirement Coach! You deserve it!
