🇺🇸 Warbirds Honor 9/11

We are incredibly proud of the Warbirds players and families who came together today to complete the 110-story 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb in honor of the 343 firefighters who gave their lives 25 years ago on 9/11.

Our Warbirds also climbed in honor of Welles Crowther, a Boston College lacrosse player who helped save at least 18 people from inside the towers before giving his life.

Thank you to everyone who showed up, climbed, remembered, and honored these heroes today.

May we never forget the 343, and may we continue to honor their legacy. 🇺🇸🥍

25 years later, we remember the 2,977 lives lost on September 11, 2001, and the countless families and first responders whose lives were forever changed.

We remember the courage of those who ran toward danger when others were running away. We remember the passengers of Flight 93 who chose to fight back. We remember the firefighters, police officers, paramedics, military members, and ordinary Americans who stepped forward to serve.

Today, we honor those who were lost, those who served, those who continue to carry the scars of that day, and the spirit of unity and service that followed.

We remember. We honor. We never forget.

🇺🇸 ᴡᴇ ʙᴇꜰᴏʀᴇ ᴍᴇ. ᴀʟᴡᴀʏs. Tomorrow, we honor the lives lost and the heroes who stepped forward on September 11, 2001.

🧣 One of those heroes was , a Boston College lacrosse player remembered as “The Man in the Red Bandana.” Welles put others before himself, helping save lives that day and leaving behind a legacy that continues to inspire the community.

🥍 Welles’ story and the way he lived align so closely with the values we work to build into our culture. That’s what makes Welles such a powerful role model for our athletes. We want our Warbirds to understand that being a great lacrosse player is only part of what it means to be a great teammate and a great person. We want them to treat others with respect, lead with character, and understand that who they become matters far more than what they accomplish on the field.

🤝 That’s why we recognize athletes with our “We Before Me” Award — honoring those who put their teammates and others before themselves, both on and off the field. This is the only award we pass out every practice and is teammate-chosen. Because above skills, wins, and losses, we care about building great kids, great teammates, and great people who carry those values far beyond the lacrosse field.

🥍 𝗚𝗿𝗼𝘄𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗴𝗮𝗺𝗲, 𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝗣𝗘 𝗰𝗹𝗮𝘀𝘀 𝗮𝘁 𝗮 𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗲! We had a blast with more than 50 Wichita Public Schools PE teachers at their in-service today!

🤝 We were invited to share all things lacrosse — from the origins and basics of the game to ways teachers can introduce lacrosse in their own PE classes. We also shared how the Warbirds can come into local schools and help get students involved firsthand!

🥍💪 It was an awesome day of learning, laughs, and lots of lacrosse. Our hope is that more Wichita boys and girls (and surrounding communities) get the chance to pick up a stick, fall in love with the game, and maybe even become a future Warbird!

🤗 A huge THANK YOU to for allowing us out and helping us continue to grow the game — and our boys and girls programs — right here in Wichita!
