Good afternoon/evening Hawk Nation!
Just a friendly reminder about this evening’s football practice from 6:00-7:30
As we continue preparing for the upcoming season, we would love to see more of our student-athletes taking advantage of these offseason opportunities. The work being done now helps build a strong foundation for when official practices begin during the school year. Athletes who participate throughout the summer will be better prepared physically and mentally, while also gaining valuable experience that will help them succeed when the season arrives.
Our goal is to help players learn how to move efficiently, develop their athletic abilities, and reduce the risk of injuries throughout the season. These practices not only benefit our current program, but also help prepare our athletes for the expectations and opportunities that await them at Campus High School and beyond.
Over the years, we've seen firsthand the impact that consistent summer attendance can have on a football program. Football is a demanding sport, and the work put in during the offseason plays a major role in helping athletes handle the physical challenges of a seven-week season. While any type of physical activity is beneficial, football-specific training helps players develop the strength, conditioning, and confidence needed to compete at their best.
Below are two photos that highlight the difference participation can make:
Top photo: Last Friday, June 5th, we had a total of 8 players in attendance.
Bottom photo: A summer practice from 2019, when we regularly had 20–30 players attending each day. That group went 0-7 as 7th graders but improved to 4-3 as 8th graders (and could have finished 5-2 if not for an early game stoppage due to lighting issues at HW).
The reason I share this is because I truly believe in the potential of our athletes and our program. If we want to continue building a stronger football culture at HMS, it starts during the offseason. The work put in now translates to greater confidence, improved performance, and a more rewarding experience once competition begins. Players who see the results of their hard work are often the ones who enjoy the game the most and continue growing as athletes.
Thank you for your support of our players and our program. We want the very best for these young athletes—not only during their time at Haysville Middle School, but in their future athletic journeys as well.
We hope to see even more of your kids out there tonight! 🙌 — with The REAL real Haysville Happenings .
