This is a super special “new bike” post with a story that’s perfect for the week of International Female Ride Day.
Our honorary unofficial member, Liz, upgraded to a 2012 Kawasaki Vulcan 900. What she was riding before was her late brothers 1999 Suzuki Marauder 650 that she inherited from him. In 2019 Liz trailered the, then non-running Suzuki, to Hickory Union Moto in Kansas City where she and co-founder Kate first met. (This is how she is now an unofficial member of the Litas Wichita! She is not technically a Lita but has traveled with us many many times and we try to catch up with her in KC anytime we can…so we just consider her one by default!) For five weeks Liz worked on and fixed up her brother, Murph’s, Suzuki at Hickory Union Moto with help from Brett and Tom. It caught on fire twice even! 😂 AND in 2022, she packed it down and took it on her first long distance trip to Marysville, TN with the Litas Wichita for the She Rides Moto rally. This trip was special in many ways: for Liz and also for the other ladies traveling with her who were able to witness her honor Murph. Liz is one of the many reasons we ride and love this community of women; and can’t wait for more adventures with her on the new to her Vulcan, also!
Liz is also a chair person of Caregivers on the Homefront, a non-profit organization that provides support to families and caregivers of active duty military, veterans, and first responders who may suffer from PTSD; a cause that is close to her heart and meaningful work that honors Murph even when she isn’t on the bike.
