Hello, and welcome. For the last two seasons I have been the voice behind the Public Address microphone at Eric Proffit #19 Memorial Soccer Complex. What you are looking at is video from the Titan Classic game against the Dodge City Red Demons, played on Labor Day. With the help of the late Alan Shepherd, eight years ago I established a webcast program at Kapaun Mt. Carmel to broadcast athletic an
d non-athletic events live for those unable to attend. My goal was to reach out to members of the Kapaun family, especially alumni, all over the globe, while paying tribute to the fine young people playing their hearts out. We started with the girls soccer program, and eventually were webcasting soccer, football, basketball, wrestling, baseball and softball. When I left Kapaun two years ago, the program was terminated. I would like to do the same at Northwest, especially for the soccer program. It will take some financing to get started, as video, sound and computer equipment are needed to webcast and podcast. The project at Kapaun was financed with commercial sponsorship. It can be here too. If you would be willing to help with the launching of this program, please contact me at [email protected], or at
316-734-0057. Together we can make this happen. The broadcast of the Dodge City game was compromised by wind. The wind was blowing so hard that the microphone recorder, designed for indoor use, was unable to compensate for its interference. That rendered 90% of the audio unintelligible. For the purpose of this posting, I eliminated the audio altogether. If you would like to see what a finished webcast looks like, I have attached a link to a Kapaun Soccer game to this page. You can get an idea of what to expect. Once launched, you can expect the audience to grow and grow. For one Kapaun-Carroll game, 11,261 people tuned in for all or part of the broadcast live. Thanks again for your attention, and enjoy the pictures from the game. Special thanks to Brian Hoover, who operated the camera for the day. Go Grizzlies!
