π£ Exciting news from Wichita Alumn Britton Harper:
Patience is a good attribute. When you finally get to what you've been working toward, you know it was worth every bit of the time and effort.
Roughly four years ago, I started a process with a simple but ambitious goal β to find a home for Wichita rugby. Not just a field to borrow. A real home. A place where we could build a clubhouse, develop multiple fields, and create something that players from around the region, the nation, and beyond would want to experience. We had many discussions with landowners, realtors and the City of Wichita searching for a place to create a legacy.
Today, the City of Wichita approved a lease for 23 acres at South Lakes Park.
This means three full-size, grass rugby fields, a dedicated youth field, changing rooms, showers, and the foundation for an indoor practice facility and clubhouse β things rugby players dream of having.
This didn't happen overnight, and it didn't happen alone. Thank you to the members of the Wichita Rugby Foundation, fellow players past and present, and the City of Wichita, Wichita Park & Recreation Department for working with us to make it real.
Now it's time to roll up our sleeves and start building. The Wichita Area Rugby Complex is coming β and we intend to make it the envy of the rugby community in the United States.
π The dream is becoming reality. The work starts now, and the future of rugby in Wichita has never looked brighter.
π Wichita Rugby has a home. Letβs build something incredible.
