Four hours in a seat.
Then a rotation at a hundred miles an hour.

Nobody asked the mid-back if it was ready.

Golf, tennis, softball, throwing a kid in the air — rotation is a mid-back job.
And the mid-back spends most of a workday not doing it.

When the swing asks for range that isn't available, the low back and the lead shoulder volunteer.
Those weren't built for the job.
That's the pull, the tweak, the soreness by Monday.

Two rounds of five open-book rotations before the round or after the flight.
That's the whole homework.

"What are you actually training for?"

A heavy carry will tell you.
And it won't be kind about it.

A carry isn't a muscle test.
It's a bandwidth test.

Hold the position.
Keep breathing.
Keep walking.

Three things at once.
30 seconds.
Nowhere to hide.

When the tank runs out, position drops first — ribs flare, shoulders lean, hips hike.
Same thing that happens carrying groceries, luggage, or a toddler on a bad day.

Position failing before grip is information. Not a verdict.

Add one heavy carry to the end of your next session.
Notice what gives out first.

Lifters: the deadlift didn't hurt your back.
Your hinge did.

The bar just told on you.

You hinge a hundred times a day — reaching in the fridge, picking up a kid, tying your shoes.
Nobody watches.
Nobody corrects it.

Then you load 315 on the bar and expect the pattern to hold up.

The cue that changes everything: push the floor away.
Not lift the weight.
Push the floor.

Ground yourself before you pull anything off it.

Hot take: "I'm just getting older" might be the most expensive sentence you'll say all year.

Not because getting older isn't real.

But because that story ends the investigation.

We start expecting to be stiffer.

Slower.

More tired.

Less capable.

Age can change your body, but it doesn't automatically explain every ache, limitation, or setback.

We've seen people in their 60s and 70s moving better than people half their age.

The difference usually isn't the number on the birthday cake.

It's whether they've accepted their limitations... or stayed curious about what's actually causing them.

Don't let age become the reason you stop asking better questions.

"Getting back to normal" sounds like a great goal...

Until you realize your old normal is what got you here.

Recovery isn't about rewinding the clock.

It's about building a body that's more capable than it was before.

Moves better.

Recovers better.

Handles more.
