My recent 30lb weight loss has been a combination of resources, tools, determination, consistency, and grace through different seasons of my life. It started with my first gym membership nearly 20 years ago where I fell in love with fitness and met the incredible people who would shape my journey. Melissa Whitmer encouraged me to become a fitness instructor. Teaching BodyPump, cycle, and boot camp classes helped me stay accountable. I became inspired by strong women who lifted with relentless determination.
When CrushNTX opened, I found the place where I could continue learning and growing. I started following structured programming, earned my personal training certification, and began helping others on their own fitness journeys. Lindsay taught me that fueling my body properly is just as important as training it. Then life happened. I held a very stressful job that rocked my routine. My cortisol was sky high, I wasn’t sleeping, and perimenopause hit me hard—hot flashes, night sweats, irritability, and exhaustion started affecting every part of my life, including my workouts. Before I knew it, I was carrying an extra 20–25 pounds that I couldn’t seem to lose…but I didn’t give up.
Tara was the cheerleader I needed, checking on me and encouraging me to keep going. Eventually, I changed careers and talked to my doctor about HRT. My sleep, stress, and energy improved, and I dialed in on my nutrition and my workouts. I stayed in a calorie deficit for months, focused on whole foods, lifting, walking, and reducing inflammation. Week by week, the weight came off. I’m happy with my weight loss, but I’m even prouder that I didn’t quit. I feel better. I’m happier. If you’re feeling stuck, ask for help! Talk to a doctor, a nutrition coach, a trainer. Find people who will encourage you, listen to you, and hold you accountable. Crush has all of that! It is so much more than a gym. It’s a place of growth, education, friendship, healing and support. I’ve found coaches who care, trainers who teach longevity, resources that address hormones and nutrition, and people who have become family. I’m building the healthiest, strongest, happiest version of myself here.
