Happy National Native American Heritage Month!

At Sequoyah National Golf Club, we are honored to stand on the homeland of the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians, a place where the mountains carry stories, the land remembers, and the game of golf moves in rhythm with heritage that is thousands of years old.

Throughout the course, you’ll see Cherokee language woven into signs and experiences. These words are written in the Cherokee Syllabary, a writing system created by ᏏᏉᏯ (Sequoyah) in the early 1800s. His work allowed the Cherokee people to read, write, and preserve their language in a permanent and powerful way.

The Cherokee Syllabary can be found throughout the golf club, placed with intention to honor, preserve, and continue the language in daily life and shared experience.
